Actually no, eating at night does not make you fatter. What matters is your TOTAL calorie intake for the day, versus how many calories you are burning throughout the day plus exercise.

For example, if you need 1800 calories just to live (literally lying in bed doing nothing but existing) and then you worked out and burned 500 calories, you created a 500-calorie deficit, bringing your calorie intake down to 1300, and you need 1800 to exist, so you have to eat back those 500 calories or your body will go into starvation mode.

Let's say you ate all 1800 and then ate 600 more calories, bringing you up to 2400. Now you're over your calorie needs, right? But then you worked out and burned 700 calories so now you are 100 less than where you need to be and let's say it's 10:00 at night and you're hungry. Have a 100 calorie snack and you're good to go.

So, basically you MUST eat enough calories that your body requires just to exist...if you get to the end of the day and you haven't met your calorie needs (because you worked out and burned some calories off) then you actually need to eat something light to keep your system in balance. If you already met your calorie limit (after exercise or not) then I wouldn't eat at night unless your stomach is really growling.

not necessarily. The food you eat will likely to go straight to fat since your body doesn't really need it to sleep. Moreover, digestion can ruin your sleep.

It is OK, to eat something small to take out the hunger pains, but I wouldn't make a meal out of it.

Best bet is to have your last meal at least two hours before bed. If you are hungry when you wake up in the morning, eat. I wouldn't nocturnal feed though since again, sleep wrecking and fat aggregation.

At the end of the day, if you burn as many calories as you consume over the 24 hr period, you should not gain/lose any body fat.

Good luck!

Actually, that don't eat after 8 p.m. may become another myth. A lot of people eat after that time. Most of it has to do with your genetics and body make up. If you're already overweight or obese then it wouldn't probably be advisable to eat late. But if your thin and work hard either at work or working out then you may be able to eat late. If your worried chose sensible snacks if eating late such as fruit or pudding which usually have low calories. Basically it comes down to genetics and common sense eating

I disagree, it had to be dependent on the individual, their metabolism and all that. I'm 5' 10, I weight 170 and I eat all the time and exercise. Although I see myself as well toned everyone calls me skinny. My motto is, "it's what you eat not how much." I can entire pizzas at a time a smile, jump and flip the next day. But if I ate a couple boxes of doughnuts I'd be unhappy with what I ate.

I heard two different things from two different doctors.....
1. Don't eat after 6pm because you don't have time to digest or workoff what you ate. You will gain weight. I have noticed this with myself.

2. It doesn't matter when you eat as long as you don't go over you alloted calories. I mean...if you typically eat 1500 calories a day. It doesn't matter when you eat as long as don't eat more than 1500 calories.

Don't eat past 8 pm. Yes, you will get on weight or add weight if you do this. If you have to eat, eat some vegs of a big glass of water, fat free milk. Something healthy

You will not gain weight as long as the calories are within your daily calorie count. However, I still believe that "It is not how much you eat but what you eat"
