Pampered Chef does a 10 minute Lava Cake in the microwave using the rice cooker plus.

Molten Chocolate Lava Cake

One box of chocolate cake mix
ingredients to make the chocolate cake (from the back of the box)
One can of chocolate frosting

1.Empty cake mix and cake mix ingredients into Rice Cooker Plus and mix together.
2.Add ½ the can of frosting with Small Scoop.
3.Microwave for about 8-10 minutes or until a cake tester inserted into the center of the cake comes out clean.

You can use any kind of cake mix and frosting, but chocolate is my favorite!

Warm Chocolate Hazelnut Cake
This rustic, European-style cake is designed to “bake” in the microwave oven using our Rice Cooker Plus with moist and delicious results.

1/2 cup whole hazelnuts, toasted, divided
1 container (13 ounces) chocolate hazelnut spread, divided
11/3 cups water
1/4 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
1/4 teaspoon Double-Strength Vanilla
1 package (18.25 ounces) devil's food cake mix with pudding in the mix
1/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate morsels, grated
Vanilla ice cream and fruit such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and red grapes (optional)

1.Place hazelnuts in Small Oval Baker; microwave on HIGH 3-4 minutes or until lightly toasted, stirring after each 30-second interval. Cool completely. Rub hazelnuts between damp paper towels to remove any loosened skins; discard skins.

2.Lightly brush bottom and sides of Rice Cooker Plus with oil using Chef’s Silicone Basting Brush. Coarsely grate 1/4 cup of the hazelnuts into rice cooker using Deluxe Cheese Grater, turning rice cooker to coat completely. Allow excess grated nuts to evenly coat bottom; set aside.

3.Place 3/4 cup of the hazelnut spread in Classic Batter Bowl. Microwave on HIGH 30-40 seconds or until slightly melted. Gradually add water, whisking using Stainless Whisk. Add oil, eggs and vanilla; whisk until smooth. Add cake mix and coarsely grated chocolate morsels; whisk until smooth.

4.Pour batter into prepared rice cooker. Do not cover with lid. Microwave on HIGH 9-11 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean (cake may appear slightly wet on top). Remove cake from microwave; let stand 5 minutes. Invert cake onto Simple Additions® Medium Square. Place remaining hazelnut spread in Prep Bowl and microwave on HIGH 10-15 seconds or until melted; drizzle over cake. Coarsely chop remaining hazelnuts using Food Chopper; sprinkle over cake. Serve immediately with ice cream and fruit, if desired.

Cook’s Tips

•¼ cup oil This cake should only be baked in a microwave with a built-in turntable.
•For low wattage microwaves (less than 800 watts), do not check cake for doneness before 10 minutes. The wattage information should be printed on the inside of the microwave door.
•This cake can also be microwaved in the Stoneware Fluted Pan.
•Microwave on HIGH 10-13 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.

There are also stoneware cakes done in the fluted pan.

Sunshine Cake

1 lemon
1 orange
1 small carrot, grated (1/2 cup)
3 eggs
1 (16 oz) container sour cream
1 (18.25 oz) pkg. yellow cake mix
1/4 c powdered sugar
Thawed, frozen whipped topping (optional)
Lemon and orange wedges (optional)

1. Brush Stoneware Fluted pan with vegetable oil using Pastry Brush.
2. Using Lemon Zester/Scorer, zest lemon and orange using short strokes. Juice lemon and orange with Juicer to measure 1/4 c total juice; set aside. Grate carrot using Deluxe Cheese Grater.
3. In Classic Batter Bowl, combine eggs, sour cream, carrot, lemon zest and orange zest. Whisk until well blended using Stainless Steel Whisk. Add cake mix. Mix until well blended, about 1 minute, using Mix 'N Scrpaer. Pour batter into pan, spreading evenly.
4. Microwave on HIGH 11-14 min or until Cake Tester inserted in near center comes out clean. Let stand in microwave 10 minutes. Loosen cake from sides of pan; invert onto serving plate.
5. Using clean pastry brush, brush reserved citrus juices over top and sides of warm cake. Sprinkle powdered sugar over cake using Flour/Sugar Shaker. Cut into slices using Serrated Bread Knife. Garnish with whipped topping and lemon and orange wedges, if desired.

Alot of store bought cake recipes have the option for either oven baked or microwave. You just have to check before you purchase. If your making it from scratch, you might want to source out a recipe that is good for the micro.

Only if it's a sponge cake. Other types of cake must be baked in a hot oven. How long it takes to microwave depends on its size.

Not ususally. The heat isn't evenly distributed for a conventional cake. There is a lava cake that can be. Just google it. It has a liquidy center, that's hot enough to be considered baked, but looks like a volcano when you put your fork into it..

Yes it can, but there are really only certain kinds that can. You would have to look on the bakery isle to find the ones that can be made in a microwave.

technically, yes, but ti doeasn't brown and the texture is a bit weird. the best thing to do is buy a mix designed for the microwave oven (betty crocker has a couple).

yes it can! i have done it, it comes out more dense than usual, but it is still good. they actually sell pans that are specifically used for the microwave, but i am sure that a normal pan works fine.
