The same was true in Vietnam but it doesn't mean anything other than they like music. Soldiers are real men and women who fight for their country while the bands whine and cry about it with their music.

Similar to Vietnam, musical artists have infused anti-war sentiment into their music. Green Day, System of a Down, Outkast, Eminem, 311, Tool, Pearl Jam, and A Perfect Circle are just a few of very popular bands that have all but come out screaming against the war in their songs. I don't think the troops listen for the lyrics, but if they did, it would say something strong about how they feel off camera.

Got news for you pal -- You'd have a hard time finding a group of people that is more anti-war than the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces. Do you honestly believe we WANT to leave our loved ones behind, go to some country where they probably don't want us around anyway, work 12-16 hours every day, live under rotten conditions, and risk our lives? Heck no. We hate the idea of war more than anyone else because it directly affects our lives more than anyone else in this country. It pulls us away from our comfortable homes and our families and puts us in harm's way. So why do we wear the uniform if we hate war so much? Simple -- we hate the idea of losing our freedom even more.

Over half the music of the 60's and 70's was anti war, but that didn't stop us from listening too it. And we didn't come home as hero's, we were spit on, hit, cussed and anything else you can think of.
If the music is good then there is nothing wrong with listening to it. Remember this, all the people in uniform are volunteers and not draftees.

Do you think the band members find it ironic that people in the military totally ignore their anti-war message, but listen anyway? Isn't that just like giving them the finger?

Why shouldn't lyrics have a say in your choice of music? If you don't listen to the lyrics, listen to instrumentals. For the record, Korn does not worship the devil. I think that a lot of troops do care what the music they listen to is saying, and actually, quite a few of them are questioning why they are in Iraq at this point. If you're not listening to the lyrics, you're really not listening to the music.

The people who listen to the music listen to the MUSIC and NOT the political views of the musicians.
If people boycotted everyone with dopey views.....90% of Hollywood would be out of work.

I have never gotten that either. Although, I am not sure anyone really knows what the military thinks. What they say and what they think is vastly different I believe.

Nope, because you've got to understand the fact you are in the army doesn't me you are pro-war, you are just pro-freedom, believe me if they could choose among having a war or not, they would choose not to have it, but they go to the war to defend our freedom.
