One word - Stability. The US and a few other countries are looked at as places that remain stable when the rest of the world is in chaos. That is why other countries invest in US Dollars and why private investors are keen on holding US assets.
Many other countries don't have that stability and would be much more likely to actually use a nuclear weapon, especially one of the smaller ones. Don't you think that Saddam would have used one in his war with Iraq if he had one? He didn't hesitate to use poison gas. Does Iran really have any restraint to keep them from nuking Tel Aviv? They have only held back from attacking Israel because they didn't have the means. A nuclear weapon is the means.
There has never been a weapon in history that has sat unused. The more that nuclear weapons spread then the higher the chance that they will be used. That chance doesn't increase in a linear fashion but in an exponential fashion.

Why do u think? i agree that saddam should not have them cause if he did we wouldn't be alive by now, Iran there is two reason "the security of american" and also the increasing of oil costs that is not helping the E.U (america acting nice to help the E.U) and N.Korea to take their revenge on the Japanese during the WWII, where americans are found to protect the Japanese. And by the way Israel and America are both one nation

The US should not be allowed to have nuclear weapons, after all America is the only country that has already slaughtered millions of people in Japan using nukes.

I think the question is that USA is afraid the nuke can be used against US or its allies. If Saddam had nukes, he'd invade other non-nuke countries as he see fit using nuke as an insurance. After all, when was last time you saw a country with nuke get invaded? For North Korea, the fear is that Kim Jong Il will sell nuke so he can buy more Hollywood movies and enjoy his luxury lifestyle.

North Korea has intentions to harm us. Iran has intentions to harm Israel. If someone has nuclear weapons and has shown to be peaceful, then it's no problem. Take China or Great Britain, for example; they don't have loose cannons in office, so we can fairly trust that they won't go bombing anyone who they don't agree with.

We're afraid they'll actually use them. We won't actually use them unless we are attacked first or there is no other course of action. Those are unstable countries. The thinking is that they'll bomb their enemies to Kingdome Come instead of diplomatic means. Those enemies include Americans. It just depends. We know Israel won't bomb us because we helped them with the uprisings in their country. I don't think anyone should have them. It's nothing but resurrecting the Cold War Arms Race.

20,000 huh? you are a D to the ORK. Plus, you don't have to be Einstein to understand Dictators that are already at war with its neighbors and have already stated they plan their destruction, probably shouldn't have a nuke.
