I was in upci for over 20 years, involved in the ministry for 18. The more I got involved in the ministry the sicker it make me to my stomach, the Lord really started showing me alot and I believe it had alot to do with only wanting to please the Lord follow his voice, and continually be a truth seeker (as the Berean's). My eyes were being open to so much;
Pride, control, power, the fact that most of the doctrine is based on the old covenant (this is true with about 90% of Christian churches today), you see alot of pastor worship, no accountability with many pastors, God revealed to me about the hierarchy (which is really a peaking order) which is totally non-Biblical. Without giving a long story, I Left in 2002, I really didn't understand the grace message until a year after we left, it was through Andrew Wommack's teaching that totally opened my eyes about even more trues including grace;
Praise the Lord, He set me free!!!!!!!

I go to an Apostolic church (although I believe in the 3 persons in one accord - Trinitarian).

Like every denomination, they tend to focus on one scripture more than others, in this case they believe that it is in the water baptism that a person officially becomes saved. I think that grace is still there, other wise a person would not know to repent and turn to God. They just put most of the emphasis on water Baptism.

Some Apostolic and Pentecostal Churches believe that you must be Spirit Baptized to be saved.

My son was affiliated with this and similar groups for 10 years. After 10 years of soul-searching and even debating with preachers and others on the Internet, my son came to the conclusion that the UPC's beliefs are unbiblical in this area. He is now a member of another denomination.
