I'm looking into getting a Jeep Cherokee Sport (no specific year) and I have heard the Jeeps in general can be run into the ground. I have also heard from a couple people they tend to have problems. Should I bother, or is it going to send me into a world of pain and suffering?

I've owned a Jeep Cherokee in the past and it was the best car I've ever had! I never had any mechanical problems with it. I got in a couple accidents when I had it and the only damage was a couple little scratches... the other car that hit me had a lot of damage to it!! I traded it in for a Passatt and I regret it... I definitly recommend getting a Jeep Cherokee!!!

each and each and every of the Cherokee activities are quite stripped down fashions. i ought to favor a rustic or Laredo style. ideally with the pre-ninety six AMC style interior. both.5 is okay. that is loosely depending on the sturdy 4.2 L6 although this is truly underpowered. The 4.0 liter Inline 6 is a very sturdy motor. I have considered many three hundred,000+ mile Cherokees. ideally, you should search for a 4.0 liter 6 cyl with the Aisin 4 % computerized. (comparable to the Aisin transmission used interior the Volvo 740) make sure the doorways open and close somewhat. If a door or hatch sticks the unibody must be bent from severe off-highway abuse or collision and the Jeep is valueless.

I think any opinion given on a vehicle really depends on whether a person actually takes care of the vehicle, or if the person knows more about astrophsics then they do about a car. And the general person knows nothing about astrophysics.

You're going to be taking a risk with any car you buy. You're also a fool if you expect to buy a car just to drive it into the ground with general neglect.

The Cherokee can me an excellent vehicle for your needs. But then again, a 1974 Ford Mustang II can be an excellent vehicle also. Just depends on your tastes, your needs, and your willingness to keep what you own in good running condition.

I owned a 2001 grand cherokee and then changed it to 2005 .
They are excellent cars with no problems at all , however the new shape 2005 and above are very smoother to ride and less shaky .
Also if you decided to buy one go for the bigger engine ( 4.7 L) as the laredo 3.7 L engine does not have enough power and they nearly consume the same fuel .

I'd try to get a at least a 2001 before they were disco'd. The 4.0 was the best engine to come from Jeep. Great high millage life.

The ride wasn't rough. You want a rough ride drive my Jeep!

I'd try car quest when it comes time to shop around. Don't forget to car-fax it. Its worth the 15-30 bucks.

I sold them for a Chrysler dealership.

They're lousy on ice, they ride rough on pavement and they're more prone to tipping then other similiar vehicles. Of the new Cherokees that I sold an unusually high number came back for various repairs, tranny problems in particular.

Nice looking vehicle, but I'd never own one.

I have a 92 sport, 4.0L automatic with 216,000 miles. I put a fuel pump on it once, change the oil regularly, and do routine maintenance. It's the best I have owned out of 7 vehicles.
