I am careful with washing my hands, etc. I don't understand why it's so easy for me to catch the common cold.

Do you take vitamins and eat a healthy balanced diet. Most people don't eat as well as they think they do. Fruits and vegetables are vitally important. Take a good multiple vitamin. Vitamin C helps me to keep colds at bay. Exercise is helpful also. Stay away from those that are sick and coughing. Continue to wash your hands. Use an antibactericidal spray or wipes on your telephone, remote control, or anything that you handle frequently, and the things that others handle. Your steering wheel of your car, refrigerator doors, computer keyboard and mouse, all can harbor nasty germs. Get plenty of sleep and drink a lot of fluids. Dress warmly when out in the cold weather.

Weakened immune systems make people more vulnerable to infections. Take a good high potency multiple vitamin with minerals daily; take vitamin C 500 mg 4-6 times daily at the first sign of a cold (500 mg daily is good when not ill) Take Echinacea and Golden Seal when you get a cold; Start Cold-Eeze lozenges every 3-4 hours at the first sign of a cold (scratchy throat). Drink plenty of water. Avoid sugar and refined flour foods; they weaken your immune system. Good luck.

ok this is not a easy question to answer....everybody is diffrent...now colds are caused by viruses......viruses are very sensitive to heat....that is why you get a fever...to kill it off....they say vitamins / fluids help speed up a cold..but preventing one,and bosting your system is a whole diffrens story.....things that you can do are this....reduce stress, sleep more, stay warm....they say "its cold out ...youll ceatch yourself a cold" .....its partly true.....insted of your body producini anti-bodies....your body is stressed by trieng to keep its core temp up....you only get sick from other people...not cold air.......one thing that works ....beveive it or not.....if your sick....take a hot bath ...to the point that you barely stand it....and sit till your head been sweating for 10 - 15 min...keep the water temp up too.....bring a thermometer in as well....when you hit 102.5 pullthe tub and lay till tub is empty.....allows you to cool of a bit.....stand very slowly or you could pass out.....and go right to bed....no tylenol or cold remedy......you will feel even worse when you go to bed....but when you wake......you will almost every time feel like a million bucks the next day......or date someone who rarely ever gets sick.......i know it sounds weird .....i cant explaine it.....but i have witnessed it 3 times.......let me explaine......im 35 and been sick 4 times 1 with the flu when i was 21 thats it..... now the first time went un-noticed....the second i realized after the girl i was dating for the summer said great!....i get to be sick all winter now......she said all her life she gets about 7 colds a year....most in winter........during the 4 years dating her.....she was not sick once.....seen her a year later....in sept,,,,she had a cold......# 3 was a nurse...who complained about colds as well......i asked her one day how oftten do you get sick...she said at least 5 times a year...because of her job....in the 6 years with her she only got a sore throut for 2 days.....after we split up ...3 mos. later had a cold...and has them all the time like before......now im still friends with gilr #! ....i brought my findings to her ...and she was sick 3 times a year minimum she said.....not even a sniffle the 3 years together with me.........so i asked my dr. and told her about it......her best guess was during sex..kissing.....my anti-bodies were boosting their immune system.....thru fluid exchange some how........no lie.....i still cant beleive it.......oh one more thing eat right...anti-bodies are made from protein...so eat more protein....it does make a world of diffrence any more on this topic...e mail me...stay well......................... watch now ill get sick....damnit
