Probably your heater core, like said above, its probably clogged, now the question is, can it be flushed out or does it need to be replaced, if it needs to be replaced, its gonna be a couple hundred bucks unless you know someone that can do it for you. And for the most part, they are a b*tch to replace. its like they build the car around the heater core. Or if the thermostat is stuck open, your temp gauge on your dash should be lower than what it normally is, usually around 180-190 degrees. and you won't get as good of heat.

You can tell if it is a thermostat problem or not by observing the temp. gauge. It should go about halfway btwn hot and cold when the car is warmed up. If the temp stays on cold even when running at highway speeds, the thermostat needs to be replaced.
The heater runs off of the warmth of the engine, and the thermostat keeps the engine warm and running at peak efficiency.

You may have a plugged heater core, or hose leading to your heater core. I am sure you have checked but make sure the temperature adjustment knob is turned to the red area. The valve that lets water from your engine into your heater core may be inoperable too, possible due to a vacuum hose coming off, or linkage arm breaking loose. Without having the car to look at, I can't suggest much else.

I have the same problem, I took it to a Nissan dealer they said that it is related to air pockets (whatever that means) - it worked for couple of weeks and now this week I am back to the same problem, I am taking it back tomorrow to get looked at again. Pepboys could not fix it - they thought it was Electrical problem and recommended for me to take it a Nissan dealer. So you might not want to bother with other mechanics to reduce the cost of fixing.
Dealer cost was about $120 for diagnostics - no additional fee for them to fix it.

first you replace the fuse that says HEATER in the fuse box and then if that doesn't work take it to a service center because you know nothing about what you are doing.
