The best weapons are long range missiles. You don't have to get close. The best vehicle is the one caring the missiles.

i dont know much about military vehicles. but obviously the best weapon for typical combat situations is the m-16. eugene stoner was a mastermind to come up with that design. and the later improvements such as the chrome lined chamber and forward assist have drastically improved it. also i must give credit to mikhail kalishnikov for him designing the ak-47. also an excellent combat weapon. i have personally owned many military rifles such as M 1 garands along with M 1 carbines and M 14s. many different versions of ak-47 from russia and china and romania. also sks rifles from many countries. the french FN FAL is also a great combat weapon.and of course the german made Heckler and Koch are all excellent. the G3 has been used in alot of combat. the sig sauer sp551 is also an excellent combat weapon but very pricey. and dont forget the russian PPSh 41. what a blast they are. but as with the M-1 carbine they fall short of the best. and we cant deny the fact that all military forces used bolt action rifles a short time back. the U.S 1903 and 1903 A3 were great rifles along with the different versions of the british enfields or the russian nagants. because you said infantry weapon i am taking it that you mean a personal combat rifle and not something along the lines of an M-60 machine gun. and dont forget shotguns as infantry weapons. the military has used them for years in jungle or close range use. my favorite is my benelli M-3. it has a lever on the forend to convert it to a pump or automatic. the licensing to own fully automatic weapons is expensive so most people who like military weapons own semi automatic versions rather than fully automatic. i own 2 ar-15s. the same as an m-16 but it only fires one round per trigger pull. to get back to youre original question. my 2 favorites are the m-16 or ak-47. if i was in a very dusty dirty environment and shooting at close range i would choose an ak because they are made with looser tolerances and will still function well if they happen to get some sand or dirt in the action. if i needed a very accurate combat weapon that is more accurate at long ranges i would choose an m-16. if so go for the h-bar version. it stands for heavy barrel. and of course it is common to see gobs of different uppers for an m-16. or ar-15. so you can buy a lower and with no other paper work you can buy all the uppers you want. it can be made into a combat weapon or a full heavy barrel target rifle. and even single shot .50 bmg uppers are available. ok my answer to youre question that the m-16 or civilian version ar-15 is the best combat weapon available.

Good gods...
People write entire books on the subject.
Check Jane's, considered pretty much the definitive source analyzing weaponry, vehicles, etc for the military.
http://catalog.janes.com/catalog/public/index.cfm
Personally I'm a fan of the P90 assault rifle...
And my favorite pistol remains the old model 1898 Mauser 'broomhandle'
Heard excellent things about the Glock - good magazine capacity - but still a fan of a .45 over like the Colt 1911a just for its punch - the difference is purportedly impressive.
If you're talking armor - the Abrams is generally considered the best tank in the world for its combination of armor, speed, firepower and firecontrol system.
For troup transport... tough choice - as Iraq has demonstrated, the Humvee is pretty inadequate, even uparmored, you can't change that its basically a big Jeep.
The American Stryker is pretty impressive - but I don't know for instance what South Africa has in modern comparison, and they've made some impressive vehicles.
In general the US has the best equipment, as the US has by far the biggest military budget...
Israel tends to use American equipment, though does have its own weapons industry - so you might want to check if they have a web site.
Good luck on this - its a great question - but you really could write a book on it comparing pro's and cons...

Best infantry weapon is probably the AK-47; it is the most durable and easily learned assault rifle available. For tanks, I would have to say the M-1 Abrams is the best. Infantry Fighting Vehicle? Tough call. The Bradley is good, but so is the South African model.

It depends the type of battle.
If its a sea battle subs are very good unless if the ships have death charges.
If its land vs air you need AA guns depending on the distance of the plane.
If its land vs seathen infatri is a big NO you should try some hevy arms. Bazucas, etc.
If its air vs sea then thats easy just get a few bombers they would sink the ship easyly.
A land battle mostly depends on the land scape if its mountans u cant use tanks they would just slow u down. I think for plains (flat ground) tanks are a must the only gun that is good agsent a tank and its a 15mm shot gun with slugs but 1 blast from a tank can kill the person easy so try bazucas normaly 2 shots does it sometimes 1.
But the ultamite weapon is probably... The missil (created by germans during WW2)

AK47 - cheap & reliable, but without the range.
Vehicles - Do you mean air support for ground troops?
Helicopters for fast movement.
Challenger tanks for support
Warrior for close infantry suppport
How about RPG - again light, easy to use, can disable (if not destroy) armour and infantry support vehicles.

The best fighting vehicle in the world is the british army challenger II main battle tank. Its fast, its reliable, it has a massive main weapon, it has reactive armour, it has a decent range, it can fight day or night.
