ok im heartbroken & confused ...i just had a bloodtest done and the results said that i was 'normal/fine'.....

What the hell?! ...I DON'T FEEL NORMAL AT ALL!

I was hoping i DID have some kind of disorder so that'll explain my IRREGULAR PERIODS **I got my period at 12, and i'm 16 now, it's STILL VERY irregular (4 months inbetween!)**........also why I'm short , like 4'11..and soo many other things...

I've been researching the symptoms online for HYPOTHYROIDISM and i thought i HAD THAT, b.c at first my docter said that I might have a thyroid problem due to my irregular periods...

And Mostly 90% of the HYPOTHYROIDISM syptoms I HAVE!!!, and even my friend agreed with me!!!

can bloodtests b this wrong? any similar experiences?

im so bummed!!!

I know EXACTLY how you feel. After years and years of normal blood work, I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome last month. It was just by chance that the blood work THIS time showed elevated testosterone levels. You can have PCOS and not actually have cysts on the ovaries. I've had irregular periods or no periods all of my life, etc.

Check out this website and talk to your doctor if you have symptoms similar. If your doctor isn't willing to look past the blood work, find another doctor. http://www.pcosupport.org/support/

All of my thyroid blood work also comes back normal. My aunt almost died because the doctor couldn't look past the blood work and at her symptoms. She had hypothyroidism but the blood work was just fine.

Depends on the type of thyroid test you had. If you had the simple blood test for T3 and T4, if you are borderline, it might not show up. There is a more involved thyroid test called a thyroid stress test. They take some blood and then give you an injection of something. Then they take out some more blood about an hour later. WARNING: the test can mess up your period really bad and you can't even be remotely pregnant because it will kill the fetus.

Besides, at 16, it isn't usual to still have irregular periods.

Good luck

I would agree you need a second opinion. It took me one year and 4 doctor's to get to the root of the problem. It ended up being my thyroid. I had one GP prescribe anxiety medication, another had me see a psychaitrist, it was when I went to an internist that I was finally diagnosed correctly. I have been on the thyroid medicine for 3 years now and it has made a huge difference. I had a hard time because I was healthy and too young.
Good Luck and be strong!!!

the blood test result could be correct. Consult endocrinologist. There is range given as a normal range. The result is considered normal only if your values fall between the laboratory range given. But not everyone has same human physiology. Could yours be in different range. Since ur symptoms are suggestive of hypothyroidism, why dont u ask a physician (internal medicine specialist) to reconfirm with you. Not a GP.

Prepare your self prematurely. You continually have a recreation plan do not you? Well you must continually have a plan in existence, and a "plan B" too, simply in case!! Why do not you begin by means of asking her out on a romantic date, equivalent to a pleasant dinner in which the romance is already flowing, and there may be most effective the 2 of you in combination? Chasing her down the avenue is not rather probably the most romantic approach of telling anyone you care. Try this. "How approximately I take you to a pleasant dinner this weekend?" Then ask her whilst she is to be had, and inform her what time you're going to select her up. Give her a rose while you select her up, and he or she is aware of you're interested. I consider you'll be able to take it from there. (If she says no, simply inform her that she is lacking a well time, and stroll away like the whole lot is first-rate.) Just make certain that the location you select isn't noisy. It must be a romantic surroundings.

If your feeling so upset about this then go back to your doctor & tell him/her that you are not happy & want more tests doing. My friend fought with her doc for 2yrs about her thyroid symptoms, she was told more than once that is was "normal" in the end they found she did have a problem & had to have surgery.Dont take no for an answer,if need be then change your doctor but dont give up,only you know how you are feeling.Good luck!

Relax Gal---your periods will not seem so normal til u get older and then they will come regular til u reach menopause.
If u are paranoid over your thyroid, then get some Kelp tablets which will keep your thyroid healthy.
There is nothing wrong with u except u are worrying too much
about natural human things.Relax and let your period do what it wants.

If you 100% believe that there is a problem, get a second opinon. If the second opinion agrees with the first, chill out and be grateful you only have to deal with that bull**** the rest of us has to 1/4 of the time.

It is possible to make yourself sick by thinking you are sickkk.completley possible.

If it makes you feel better, i got my period at 15 and only had one about 4 times a year until i asked my doctor to put me on birth control at 18!! I knew BC would regulate it and it did...now i get a period every month for the past 6 years.

Turners syndrome effects women and causes them to be short and have irregular periods. Has your doctor checked for that. Keep your chin up lots of girls at your age have crazy periods, it could just be your normal development. Good Luck
