I am not aware of any studies linking sweaty palms to theft.
I often had sweaty palms when younger, and still occasionally get them. In my recollection I haven't stolen much of anything - participated in stealing a bottle of wine as a young teen ager...
However, sweaty palms are sometimes associated with nervousness - and someone who is a kleptomaniac may be nervous often, as they consider stealing, and how to get away with it... there's probably quite a bit of pressure...
That might explain the link.
Interesting question.

Actually sweaty hands is not a sign of being a kleptomaniac..
Maybe this stuff can make it clear to you what really the reason is...here it is..
Sweaty palms are the condition when there is excessive sweating in the palms and it is caused by over activity of sweat gland’s nervous system. Sweaty palm remedies are not that easy as it is a hereditary disease and has no specific age of occurrence. Sweating palms can sometimes occur even due to nervousness and tension but on temporary basis. Sweating palms is caused because the nervous system gets stimulated and sweating takes place to control the body temperature. Hand sweat can be a real ordeal as it hampers the day-to-day working of an individual, which can be activated by application of any cream. Hand sweat is also seen to be dripping and the hand being absolutely cold. There is cure for sweaty palms but it leads to various psychological problems like isolation from the society and lack of self-confidence. Giving fingerprints is a hassle and driving or holding a thing for a long time is also very tough. They refuse to shake hands or even write in front of people as sometimes the ink gets smudged due to excessive sweating palms. There is surgery for sweaty hands and curesweatypalms readily gives information about it but this disease is very problematic.

No, just having sweaty hands does not mean you are a kleptomaniac and will start stealing things. You have to want to steal things to do it, and if you are a kleptomaniac you would be feeling a very strong desire to steal things or take things. If you don't feel that way, you are not a kleptomaniac.
Sweaty hands result from being nervous (or excited emotionally) or being overheated. If she is getting that symptom, maybe she is so excited about her activities or the anticipation that her hands are sweating. Hope she is getting help.
