My aunt is this AMAZING baker, she makes lemon frosted cake that is to DIE for. Her cookies are evidently just as amazing, but they are rock hard! She is very stubborn and won´t make them softer. Is there a way to make cookies softer once they are already baked?

Nuke them in the microwave and they will soften up. You can also dunk them in some milk...YUM! Or how about putting a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top :^0

Put them in the refrigerator overnight. I did that the first time I baked cookies and I was so disappointed to find they got all soft, albeit a mistake, it did the trick. Good luck.

In the recepie try subsituting 1/2 of the sugar with brown sugar. This will make them softer.

Also after baking them, place them in an air tight container....that will keep them soft for a couple of days.

White bread works! My grandmother made these amazing sugar cookies but they would get hard really quickly after cooling and a piece of white bread would keep them soft for days and days.

Place them in a plastic container with a piece of white bread on the bottom of the container and a damp ( definitely not wet, but, barely damp ) paper towel on top and cover overnight.

I use crisco instead of butter. also, taking them right off the pan when they come out of the oven contributes to the crispness you describe. let them cool for a few minutes on the pan before putting them on a cooling rack.

Sometimes if you microwave cookies for a little bit they will soften up temporarily while they are still warm.
