If you do not get help for this kitten, she will die. So...if you can not afford to pay for the vet, then call a vet and explain the situation they may be able to take on the case a pro-bono or they will have the number of a free clinic. You may have to give up custody of the animal in order for them to take her in...but in brutal honesty if you can't afford to give a pet the medical attention it needs, you are not in a position to have a pet. Please do not get me wrong...I think you are an amazing person to have rescued this kitten from a terrible place to start with (and I personally would have to rethink my friendship with a person as cold and callous as your friend). But please take the final steps and ensure that she gets the medical treatment that her life depends on.

Good luck--and God bless you for saving her life.

If you can't afford a vet, it's probably wise not to have a pet, but I understand your rescuing situation. I would try to appeal to a local vet for some free advice that you may be able to administer or try an online search. I came up with:

There's always animal shelters but realize they tend to have so many cats. If you decide to keep the kitten I suggest you save up and do the Bob Barker thing (Price is Right) and get your pet spayed or neutered, otherwise you will bring more unwanted cats into the world which is also considered cruel.

P.S. I picked up a street cat and she was very malnourished. She would gorge herself on the food I gave her and throw it back up. I reduced the amount available to her and purchased a worm medication at the local pet store just in case.

Call a local vet and explain it to them. If possible for you to do, ask them if you don't have to bring the cat in but if you could get a small amount of the cheapest antibiotic available, or possibly pay for some, it might only be less than $5. Also, blend some rice and little bit of cat food (very mashed up), only one to 4 small teaspoons at time every hour or so if you can and hand feed it to the cat with a spoon. Rice is good when animals have an intestinal infection. But drinking water is the most essential for survival, if the cat is doing that it is good.

This kitty does need to see the vet because she's very sick. Call the vets in your area, explain the situation to them and your lack of money, most will work with you on this, some will even do it for free. If the first vet doesn't work, keep calling! If you're in an area with a Veterinary School, call them as well. They normally work at reduced rates any way, for learning purposes, considering your circumstances they may be able to help for something you can afford. If none of these work out, call around to the animal shelters, the rescues, the ASPCA, basically, to any organization that you can think of that helps animals. I truly believe that there is going to be someone out there that is willing and able to help you with this kitten, just like there was someone willing to take a sick kitten out of the cold and try to take care of her. Please keep us posted on what happens, and thank you so much for caring enough about this little one to try to help her.

She is very sick indeed, really needs a vet. But if you absolutely cannot get her to a vet , try feeding her cooked chicken with rice(grind it up in a food processor or finely chopped). She may have leukemia, keep her away from other cats if you have any. Call animal control or the humane society, report your "friend". Maybe they can take the kitten for you. Thank you for being compassionate and trying to help the little one.

Please tell your "friend" for me that what she done to the kitten I hope she gets back 10 fold.

Thank you for rescuing a poor helpless creature.

The kitten could have numerous things wrong with it. If you don't have money, take it to the animal shelter. If you want to try taking it to the vet, they might let you work out a plan where you could pay them a little bit every month. If you explain what happened they might even help you for free. I can't imagine a vet so heartless as to turn you away with a sick kitten. If they do you should post their name on here and tell what happened.

Please get her help. Don't let her suffer like your selfish, self-centered friend did...

if you can afford a computer and the internet you can afford vet.. or you shoudlnt have a kitten...

ok this kitten is OBVIOUSLY sick.. dying possibly - worms - coccidiea or who knows... take the kitten to the vet and surrender it to the vets care (meaning you give up ownership or say you "found" it...) the vet will either fix it up and try to find a home for it (give it to the SPCA) or humanely euthanize it if its sick enough...

did you know that in most places you can be charged with cruelty for failure to provide vet care for a sick or ailing pet???

It sounds like she's very very sick indeed. Do they have animal welfare in the country you live in, take her there. Otherwise take her to your nearest vet and tell them she's a stray you picked up in the street. And stop speaking to that friend, she doesn't sound like a very nice person to me.
