dark areas?

when i color my hair i get dark areas even when i use a filler

+ Are you following all of the directions? is there still soap or conditioner still in any of your hair before you try to dye it? Do you wear a head band or hat that may leave something on your hair before you dye it? Could it be from a previous not so complete dying? Lots of hair dying people wash their hair and towel and air dry it twice before they even try to dye it. Do you mix the dye (I know there are usually two parts) completely before you start? and do you save a small amount of touch up dye for after you wash and dry it and see if there are any spots that might not get a good enough coating from the first try?
