Because it is the popular concensus, although not necessarily a truth, that we christians have no intelligence of our own to speak of and that we simply blindly stumble through life using God as an imaginary crutch. I am not brainwashed but wahed clean by the blood of the lamb. I am not sheeple I lead by my example. If you are looking for me to follow you blindly you are going to be disappointed...the view never changes unless your the lead dog. I refuse to accept what society wishes me to choose because I have higher standards for myself and my family and I am not afraid to speak up about them.

A lot of people say all religion involves some form of brainwashing because we're exposed to it at such a young age. The ideas are planted in your brain before you have the time to even think of anything else. You then naturally gravitate toward an idea which you normally wouldn't have since the idea is already in your head. You go to church where you're surrounded by people who you more or less trust who are all agreeing that it is the 'right' thing. It's not just Christians. One reason that people call it brainwashing is because you are then incapable of accepting any other option even when the options may be just as valid. You accept strange and unbelievable sounding things just because other people have told you it's true. You force yourself to accept weird things that you may normally have found to be ridiculous because if you don't, you may start to feel some doubt. Some people may believe that science could be brainwashing people but at least science changes and you aren't stuck in a box forever listening to one source of information (Bible, etc..) Anyone can create new scientific studies, no one is allowed to challenge the word of God no matter how far fetched some of it is.

Maybe they're insulting maybe not. It's one thing to believe impossible things, it's another to be on a school board and deprive children of an education because you can't set aside those beliefs in impossible things long enough to do your job.
Face it, when a theist does something *in the name of God*, they drag their entire faith into the fray no matter how ridiculous their personal position is. Atheists cannot be said ever to have done the same thing (because atheists don't get their script, their brainwashing from one book)

It's good that you are open-minded enough to accept that some people may choose to follow a different path. Sadly, not all people are so tolerant (and I'm not just talking about Christians; I know a lot of pagans who need to get past this "Burning Times" crap!). If we put a little less focus on what a person believes, and a little more on the person themselves, we'd all be a lot better off.

Non-Christians don't seem to be able to accept the fact that we choose to believe in God. Many are so wrapped up in their own way of thinking that they can't understand that God is all around them. Since they think their perspective, either that there is no God or we just can't know, is the only possible conclusion from life in this world, they assume that our ideas must have been forced upon us, rather than coming form our own individual processes of trying to understand our world.

Because they are ungodly people who don't know how to approach you except through insults. What these individuals don't understand is that they are blind to truth and are brainwashed by the evil society they live in, plus they are too proud to say to God I need help.

The only way anyone could actually believe what Christianity teaches, is if they are brainwashed. We don't mean you're zombies. We just mean your mind has been conditioned to ignore things that would make you doubt your religion. That is effectively a form of brainwashing.
It's insulting I know. It's not meant to be. It's just the truth.
I know. I used to be a Christian, myself.

Because it is an interesting phenomenon.
How many functioning people do you know that believe that snakes talk, people walk on water, the sun stops in the sky and other obvious myths. And they believe it with all their heart.
To me that sounds like a psychotic break or some form of brainwashing.

Because most people, including myself, have not felt the need, the drive or "the call". We have no reason to believe that Christianity is the way to go.
I have nothing against Christians personally, except when they try to make me join their cult.
I know its part of the "word" you are supposed to spread the word. But realize how hard it would be to convince you of becoming a muslim or a Jewish or an Atheist, and that's how hard it would be for us to become Christians!

I believe unbeliever don't problem w/ people personally. Most of them have problem with holiness and God. It's not us that offending them, it's their own conscience that makes them feel that way. It's our job as a Christian to deliver the message, but the rest is up to the Holy Spirit to convict them.
Jesus said in John 15:18
“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you.
