The reaction can be very different depending on the person. I get extreme skin rashes, but my sister-in-law has a hard time catching her breath. So the symtoms can be very different. Good luck. Be careful shellfish and peanut allergies can be very dangerous....

Someone who's allergic to crab meat in all liklihood is allergic to the iodine in it. They'd be allergic to all shellfish. Symptoms include feeling very hot with a reddening skin. There may be a skin rash shortly after that, and there may be stomach cramps and difficulty breathing. The victim could rapidly go into anaphylactic shock and die. Emergency treatment begins with epinepherine and a call to 911.

I am allergic to crab meat only if I have wine with it. In other words I can eat crab meat or drink wine but not together. I have hives and a stuffy nose. I am not allergic to other shell fish

I am very allergic to all shell fish, this includes crab. I break out in hives with whelts that cause severe itching, my eyes swelled almost shut, and I got a very bad headache, and my throat swelled almost shut, and I felt as if I couldn't breathe.. I had to go to the emergency room to get a steroid and benadryl IV. My allergic reaction was life threatning. Needless to say, I do not eat it now.

Is it only crab meat or all shellfish? Usually your throat swells making it hard to breathe and sometimes a rash. This also means an Iodine allergy so be sure your doctor knows.

The manifestations of fish and shellfish allergies can include those of a classic food allergy. The more common symptoms include skin, stomach, or respiratory problems. More specifically they can include nasal congestion, hives, itching, swelling, wheezing or shortness of breath, nausea, upset stomach, cramps, heart burn, gas, diarrhea, lightheadedness, or fainting.
Reactions usually appear within 2 hours after ingestion, inhaling cooking vapors, or handling of seafood. However, it has been reported the reactions can be delayed as long as 24 hours.

I am alergic to polutry and fish. If I have it my esphogus (spelling??) will swell up and I cant breath for a long time then I will get sick and vomit. I went to the doctor once when it happend but now I just deal with it if I get any by accdent. I would not suggest that because your body could go into shock and you could die.
