Every time that he does that, take his collar, drag him to the area that he peed on, then pop him on the nose and firmly say no. If he does a good thin, give him a treat. Make him realise that bad things bring pain and good things bring doggy treats

Enzyme cleaner is the best. Nature's Miracle is available at most pet stores. You have to get all the scent out completely, and sometimes more than one treatment is necessary. You may not smell it, but your dog will. Positive reinforcement works to help the dog know what is good behavior and what is bad behavior. Praise reward make a big fuss over him going outside or where he should go. If he makes a mistake, he needs to know that does NOT make you happy. Do NOT take that anger out of your dog...take it out on the mess!! Be angry at the mess...not the dog. He knows he did it...he just has to learn that what he did does not make you happy. He will soon get the message. Neutering helps sometimes, but not always. So don't depend on that being the cure

Once a dog or a cat urinates or defecates on anything you need to blot it up and use an enzyme cleaner from the pet store to clean it. The reason is that even if you can't smell it, your pet can smell even a tiny, tiny bit of scent left and if they can they will go potty there again.
Dogs and cats, especially ones that aren't neutered, sometimes like to urinate on clothing. That is because it has your scent on it and it's the animals way of saying "hello" when they urinate on it. They have no idea that they are doing something wrong. That's why it's important not to leave clothes on the floor or even in a basket where they can smell them and pee up against the outside of the basket. Shoes sometimes fall victim to the "I'll pee here to say hello" syndrome.
I'm happy your mom's presents made it okay. Have a Merry Christmas!

how old is your dog? if he's still under 12 months you have to be more patient. dogs also reach their maturity, also if your dog is male it is natural for them to do that because they are marking their territory. when you leave the house get him a cage so you can put him there while you're gone. you can also teach him where you want him to pee but that task is going take a lot of effort and patience. i can completely understand your dilemma because my dog was once like that. and you know what else if it's possible to take him wherever you go take him with you, you're going to enjoy it both.

Has your dog been neutered? If not, definitely get him neutered, there are many health benefits to this and it will get rid of or cut down on the marking.
Has he been house trained? If not, then you can't expect him to know not to pee on things.
Don't rub a dogs nose in it, dogs live in the now and will have no clue what you are doing except for being mean and then he will be afraid of you.
If you catch him in the act, tell him no and put him outside to go to the bathroom.

okay...you have a marking male...my solution was doggie jumpers...it's like a onesy for a baby and i put a pad in it and if he marked it was in a desposable pad.....it stop after a while because they don't like peeing in there pants...i breed yorkies and have 3 marking males and they all wear them in the house....the jumper cost me 13 dollars and the pads 3 dollars a month...just regular womans pads from walmart...cheaper and absorb more and sticky side makes them stay in place and it works....they cant ruin anything...when you restrict his manhood he doesn't feel the urge to do it as much and with the jumper and pad yoursaving on the cleaning the carpet and it's easier all the way around.no more peeing on your presents...put his package away and teach him a lesson....happy holidays...i have 8 yorkies and have seen it all and learned ways around almost every doggie problem...good luck

Never rubbed the dog's nose in it - dogs can be spiteful and make it worse - and don't throw them outside, this makes them associate the outdoors as punishment and then they won't want to go outside to do their duty. If he/she hasn't been neutered/spayed, do so. I have a male dog that used to mark every piece of furniture...until I got him fixed, which was 3 months ago. Knock on wood, he hasn't marked anything since.

My guess is he's not neutered. I had a male dog once that had to mark everything new that came into the house. Someone told me if I had him neutered he wouldn't have done that. I think he prob. is marking his territory. Ask your vet if neutering might help.

Put a knot into his thingie !!!
on the other hand, you might have to discipline your pet a bit. Put him outside when he misbehaves and speak tough with him. If there's something as dog diapers use them too.

if you catch him in the act
grab him
shove his nose in it
beat that ***
and throw him outside
if he is in the least bit smart
hell understand and stop
if he doesnt he is a dumbass and get rid of him
come on people we are talking about a dog not a child
its ridiculous to be so 'doggie correct'
my dogs are all outside dogs but they are housebroken and wouldnt use the bathroom in my house if they were locked in for a whole day
