there are several events , that may cause pain, in your chest
apart from heart disease;
1] scaffolding pains ;
these are pains you get in your chest wall --bones/joints
due to growth or posture , or even arthrits.
cracked or broken ribs
pain along the nerve paths
2] indigestion
a stomach ulcer
gall-bladder problems ( gall- stones )= ( intermittent pain )
3] chest infections
Pleurisy
, peural effusion, (air seeping into, the pleura ,lung sack)
emphysema
etc
Pain is the bodies way ,to tell you there is something wrong ,
if it is persistent .. you need some sort of treatment to help you;
Make another appointment, to see your Doctor ;
keep a written record of this pain ;
to show the Doctor , when you go back to see him.
,
How often you get it ?
how long does it last ?
how bad is it 1--10 ?
Sharpe -- dull ?
exactly where it is located ?
does the pain go, anywhere else ?
does it come on after food ?
or when you have been very active ?
and any other related thing you can think of ;?
well you get the picture , take your list , with you to the Doctor.
SO -- you can tell the him/her, ,
as much, as you can ,about this pain.
you will feel more confidant , with a written list ,
And the Doctor can diagnose, quickly what is wrong ,
and treat you, and make the pain go away.
I hope you will have a' pain free' and Happy Christmas
all the best

I would go back to your doctor and insist he do and EKG and then go from there. I am 28 and I found out last year I have what is called regertitative mitrovalveprolapse. I had chest pains and went to my doctor, so he did an EKG. It came back irregular so he sent me to a cardiologist who did a stress test. That was when it was discovered. I don't have any problems other than the pain, it gets worse if I lay on my left side. I go for a checkup once a year now. It may be that, then again you never know. Most doctors look over problems of this nature in women especially young women. But if you have a history in your family of heart problems-then I would definitely press the issue. Also some people who have anxiety will get chest pains. Either way if it is still bothering I would go back to the doctor or find a new one.

You could be experiencing palpitations or PVC's (premature ventricular contractions). You need to speak to your doctor again about this, and ask him/her about wearing a Holtor Monitor for a day. When you experience these pains, you can press a button on the monitor. After they remove the monitor, they will see where you pressed the button and what was going on with your heart at that time. Even if you don't press a button, they will see over the course that you wore it what exactly was going on. It is definitely something I would consider. If your doctor refuses, get a second opinion. This is your health to worry about not his.

at 22 it is unlikely to be something such as angina (note i said unlikely- not impossible!!) but if it is a cardiac related disorder at your age it could be serious so definately worth checking out HOWEVER although you say it is in your heart there are many different causes of chest pain and some non cardiac related pains appear to be in the heart area -which tends to be felt as a central (not left sided) crushing pain- you have not described how the pain feels but if heart related it will rarely be a sharp pain and it is likely you will feel breathless- do you get breathing problems at the same time?? id like to hear how the pain feels

I had this at your age, it turned out to be indigestion, doc said heart pains normally go under your armpit a bit but your stomach is on your left next to the heart, make a note of the time of day when you have it and see if it coincides with your eating habits, mine was always an hour after eating or so. if there is no history of heart trouble in your parents it is most unlikely that it is your heart. try and avoid burpy food, onions smoked stuff etc. good luck and dont worry, you'll make it worse.........

Get back to the doc you crazy fool and tell him the truth. He is not a mind reader. You could try asking for an ECG but it is only really useful if you are havin the pain at the time.

Does the doctor give you a good reason to stop worrying about it? If he does just follow him, but if you think you're still worry about it so much, i think you better change your doctor.
Hope you'll get well soon
Take care!!! =)
