Hi,
Moving and massaging the area affected usually solves the problem. Move the area as much as possible and see if that helps.

I hate charley horses!! The first time I got one I felt the same was as you. But yes the feeling will eventually go away, just like any other muscle strain.
The best treatment I have found to prevent charley horses, is when you first feel the onset of one is to strech!!! If your getting the charley horse in your calf, immediately strech your leg out as far as it will go, and try pointing your toes back at your body. This has always worked for me.
After a charley horse however, soaking your leg in warm water will generally help to ease the pain!

The best way to get rid of a charley horse is to use this technique during the charley horse. Stretch out your leg in front of you and point your toes upward and toward you. If you have to, grab the tips of your toes and pull them toward you. This will overstretch the calf, and should bring immediate releif. I used to get several charley horses when I was pregnant, and used this technique every time...and it ALWAYS worked. Being that you have pain now, it is probably inflamed. Try using an external analgesic rub such as icy hot or ben gay, and alternate between heat and ice. Heat for 20 minutes-rest 20 minutes- ice for 20 minutes-rest 20 minutes..keep repeating this cycle.

Yes, you have to stretch the calf and it hurts really bad, but it works. When I get them usually in my sleep I take my foot and stretch my toes towards my shins as long as I can stant it. That usually does the trick. One other thing start taking more calcium one of the signs of low calcium is a charlie horse. Or you have exercised that leg to much, or strained it walking through snow or sand or badly fitting shoes. They really hurt good luck.

well its gona be sore for awhile, just keep walking or while sitting pull your toes back and that will losen the muscle. you need more potassium. so eat a couple bananas a week not everyday cause then you will have too much and get the shakes. or you can take a multi vitamin.
