MY Lord, what type of vets are you people using????
I give all my puppy shots myself, 98% of the time the puppy doesn't even notice, 1% is the puppy just wants to get down to play faster, the other 1% actually notice the shot and will whimper or fuss NOT SCREAM.
The spot where they are given the shot will most likely be stiff and sore ( remember your arm/butt after a shot) there should not be as much pain as you say your baby is experiencing.
A puppy should NOT be severely sore at the injection site, if they are that tender and sore they are probably reacting to the ingredients in the shot more so than the actual shot (jab) itself.
You have to realize the shot contains all sort of nasty things that could potentially make the puppy sick, injection site is the most common complaint. Meaning if the puppy moved a little while the vet was injecting the shot and the skin was torn, or if the needle was shoved in a little further than intended, it will cause more pain.
As one other responder said, check out the site where your baby was given the shot. It could be that the site is infected.
And yes, the amount in the shot I give to my 1lb Chihuahua's is the EXACT same amount given to your Staffy!!

I just got a dachshund puppy. He'd already had his first set of shots and I had to take him to get his second set. Let me just tell you, ripped my heart out to hear him yelp! He was very sore the first and second day. By the third day, it really didn't seem to bother him that much and between yesterday and today he's been just fine.
I think it's just like a human getting a shot. It'll be tender and sore for a little bit, but after awhile it heals and you don't notice it anymore. Keep an eye on it - the soreness shouldn't last more than a few days. I think lots of puppy lovin' goes a long way too! :) Good luck!!

It may still be sore but injections do hurt a little when they are given and he could be worried if you are touching him close to the area that you might be about to give him another one!
If he is still like it tomorrow, phone the vet for reassurance, unless you can see any obvious swelling/redness/puss.
Give the little piglet a cuddle from me!!

lmfao some people should look at questions before answering just to get 2 points (health visitor indeed), its not exactly normal but it is heard of quite alot,if your dog is still sore 2morrow then phone the vets and ask for more advise but it should go away by then.

when you say jab, i'm thinking that you mean vaccination. it may be a little bruised so part the fur gently and see if there is discoloration. if it's bruised,i would say it should be fine in a few days. if there is redness, that could mean infection. in that case the dog should go to vet immediately.

My staffies have never felt any dis-comfort from their jabs.
If your pup is in pain or yelping in the morning- consult your vet.

It,s proberly a wee bit tender, you would be sore to if someone stuck a needle in your neck. Keep a check on it, it should be ok in a day or two.
