The 9/11 Hi jackers did not crash into the WTC with quotes from Rushdie on their lips, So that alone gives him the edge over the Quran for me!

Isn't it ironic that the Quran followers are the same people that killed and rioted because Rushdie has the "nerve" to talk about Islam?
I pick Satanic Verses!

I've never read the quran but I have read the satanic verses so I'll go with Salman Rushdie.

I believe Salman Rushdie's book was a fictional piece meant to challenge some beliefs and make a mark while the Quran is a holy book that has been a guide too many people on how to live their lives. Totally different.

Satanic Verses, every time.

Holy books are stagnant and prescriptive. They are of interest, but only in the context of wider literature.

Satanic Verses is modern literature. As such, it is relevant. Also, unlike holy books, it makes no bones about being fiction.

when you read all this rubbish it's not hard to see why everyone is trying to kill each other. Even the question is stupid and uncivilised.

No...I'm not a Muslim by the way.

Do any of you actually know what Satanic verses refers to? Especially those who claim to have read this very very very boring book.
