This is a bible quote I just read in someone elses answer that claims that "pagans" lead this sort of lifestyle. I must regretfully admit that my life is just not that exciting...

Look, Persephone, I know how much you love me, but I am taken. Please stop sending me naughty photos of you and your dog playing "find the peanut butter"...

Gosh, if we could just go to the local pagan church on the corner and join in on those activities I would! Sure I have experienced drunkeness, but one chooses to live "in" this lifestyle, and I prefer to be healthy and in control.
As for the "debauchery, lust, and orgies", I have experienced sex and lust too, and while the physical sensations have their allure, so does the mental stimulation of reading a good non-fiction book. Last, but least, is not "idolatry" just as detestable when one sees those little bobbing-head jesus dolls on the dashboard of a car?

No idolatry here, but other than that, yes, that's pretty much what life looks like. Except of course that in between I have to work for a living. But the debauchery makes it all worthwhile.

Idolatry is for believers. Boring.

I am not married to my mate, but I am monogamous with him and we're permanent. Yea, we have sex. So, I guess lust. No orgies though, we're monogamous, like I said.

Drinking makes me feel dizzy and I don't like that. So no drunkeness for me. Pot makes me dizzy too, don't like it. I smoke cigarettes, my mate hates it but I've been smoking since we were freshmen in High School. I'll quit one day, but last time I tried I got really fat... I suppose worrying about that is a bad thing too, but I just don't want to have to buy new clothes.

Let's see, idolatry. No. the only statues I have are strictly for decorative purposes.

Carousing... I generally like to go to bed early, but I carouse once in awhile. If I don't have to work the next morning and my mother wants the kids for the weekend and there's something interesting going on that doesn't cost too much.

debauchery... herm, well. I have to look that up....
From dictionary.com

"Extreme indulgence in sensual pleasures; dissipation.
debaucheries Orgies.
Archaic Seduction from morality, allegiance, or duty. "

I really really like hot baths and I love to cook and eat pasta. I indulge in those particular sensual pleasures every chance I get. So ah. Sure, I engage in debauchery.

But you know, if you look at the old edicts against Christians in Rome, it says they did all that stuff, and sacrificed babies too.

No. Of course not. I work all day, go help my BF with his photography business in the evenings, maybe go to the gym a few times a week, and pretty much, that's a typical day. I've never has on orgy, can't recall my last drunken episode, and never was much of a carouser.

The only difference between people like me and Jesus freaks is that I don't need to be threatened with eternal damnation to be a decent human being and apparantly they do.

Let's see - debauchery - nope.
Lust - well, yeah, a little.
Drunkenness - Don't drink.
Orgies - um, no.
Carousing - I've never had the chance to carouse.
Detestable idolatry - No. Being an atheist, I don't idolize anything.
Boy, my life is boring as can be!

Let's see, married for 16 years, 3 children, 3 dogs, a cat. Work. Books. A date once in a while with my husband.
There's plenty of lust, but I don't think that counts within marriage.
No debauchery.
A couple of drinks once in a while, but no true drunkenness.
No orgies.
No carousing.
No idolatry.
Woo-hoo! It's a wild life indeed....

I'm a christian but I don't really see anyone who is living like that. You should ask the person the definition of carousing for me :) I think everyone 'sins' but not on that level all the time. Maybe next time you see this person you should quote Judge not lest ye be judged to them :)

No to all those things. I live a very simple life with my husband (who is also my best friend), we have friends and family that love us, and we are productive members of society. We have a monogamous relationship and we don't drink alcohol or use any kind of drugs. I wonder where that person gets their misinformation from.

No I am not living like this!

You can be a good responsible citizen without being religious.

You can also be a violent Christian -- see Christianity's history -- or the immoral behaviour of some preachers whose power goes to their heads.
