I have had enough and I am desperate to lose a lot of weight before I start having health problems. I am trying to decide between Weight Watchers and Overeaters Anonymous (OA). I already know that I AM a compulsive overeater. I was just wondering if anyone has tried one or both programs and what your experience has been with them.

I've used Weight Watchers with success. It's not so much a diet as learning how to eat properly and reducing your portions. No diet is easy but this one at least allows you to have things that you enjoy without feeling guilty about it and it is a gradual weight loss which is much healthier than rapid weight loss. Although I must admit that if you are a compulsive overeater joing OA might be the better solution for you as you will meet people with the same problem as you. Mind you, like everything, you have to WANT to lose the weight and be in the right frame of mind to do so or NO diet will work. Much like quitting smoking. Good luck and you have taken the first step by admitting that you are a compulsive overeater.

i have not heard of OA, weight watches is good, but you have to stick to it as with any diet and exercise programme, and look at it as a life change not a few weeks diet. Start now and you should be alot better next summer, its not a quick fix thing it takes along time, persevere.

I did both, and think they are great...OA goes deeper with the haracter defects and with the spirituality.
Big fan of any 12 step program.....if you actually do them that is.
I believe both programs could compliment each other
