I have no idea how many UK motorists there are in the UK, but at any given moment there are about 100,000 UK motorists here in Florida and frankly you scare the crap out of us. Fortunately you are also really nice people and highly entertaining both on and off the road (with or without an automobile) so we like you anyway.

Hello,
The entire UK population is calculated at 60million people, so if you were to assume that not every person drives. I would estimate around 40-45million motorists on UK roads, but that does include motor bikes, three wheel vehicles, HGV's,etc.

Hard to say. Do the govt use registered vehicle figures or driving licence figures? I know a few peeps with licences but no car.
Anyway its got to be more than 37. Most of them are on the M6 at junction 10 or the M25.
