As for me.. when I married to my husband who's in the US Military and I was from Singapore, we did all the work that needs to be done legally. They did not provide us the T.I.N (Taxpayer Identification Number) or SSN. As b4 the tax season arrive, he applied for the T.I.N in order to get the tax filed with me as his depedant/spouse.

Once you applied for the T.I.N, you'll be good to go.One more thing, she needs to be present to sign the tax forms when you making your tax refund. Good luck and have a nice day

I'm not sure if you can file a joint return in this case - I'd seriously suggest engaging the services of a tax lawyer that also understands immigration law.
