see. this is what pisses me off...i'm really sorry about your experience, and i know exactly how you feel because i've been there. and you have every right to be pissed. this isn't love, this isn't true, this certainly isn't God. you worship how you can, with your soul, with sincerety. that can mean anything-not jumping around screaming for other people to see. and if that's really how they wanna do it, good for them-but it was wrong for them to make you feel like they did. the church really is scaring people away, giving christians a bad name, and i'm sorry it happened to you. please don't let it discourage you too much.

Been there! Done that!

I have tried to understand "christianity" many times. These are some of the VERY reasons why I can't decide on it.

What they mean by, "break loose", is break loose from the "bonds and chains" of the devil!! In other words, YOU ARE POSESSED BY THE DEVIL!!! The evidence of that is you're not jumping up and down and screaming unintelligable nonsense like a bunch of nuts in an asylum!! Why can't they be smart enough to think that you're just trying to "understand" the gospel.

Run as fast as you can from these folks. They rely heavily on EMOTIONS, and little on sound logical doctrine.

I recommend you find the church in your area my sister and her family attend. They attend a church of Christ. I haven't become a Christian (yet). But of all the "churches" that I have studied, this one seems to be the one that is closest to the church in your bible.

good luck.

admittedly, still searching

I think whoever approached you may have said that to you thinking that maybe you were shy, or nervous, or maybe didn't know what the protocol in this particular church was...

They wern't trying to ridicule you or put you down.

You should tell them that you will break loose when the spirit moves you too.. and that will pacify their question. Tell them honestly that you are waiting for God to show up and show off in your life.

Some people get emotionally caught up in the services and run around.. others are genuine.. you can usually tell the difference

Sounds like emotional hype to me. Or as the Scripture says in the flesh. On the other hand, you could have a seat among "god's frozen chosen,"

There is a difference between God breaking people loose and people breaking themselves loose.

You cannot drum up the Holy Spirit. In North America where the Spirit is withdrawing there is a decided attempt among leaders to create a hot atmosphere. They are, as Sampson of old, in danger of being unaware that the Spirit had withdrawn from him. That condition is followed by total blindness.

It is not lost yet, but finding other people to worship with in Spirit and in Truth is becoming harder and harder as the weeks go by.

I agree with your discernment. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ stand your ground, pray for guidance and keep your spirit sweet.

I grew up in churches where people screamed and hollered and I have come to this conclusion. If the spirit leads you to feel that way then go with it. Myself I have cried and gotten happy but I don't agree with people thinking that you have to act a certain way to be "filled with the holy spirit". I think that a lot of people worry about what others think and start hooping and hollering just to outwardly show others that they have the feeling of the spirit. This is very sad. God looks at your heart and that "show" that people put on does not impress God.

So my advice is that you can jump and holler because God is certainly worthy of the praise but if you do this it must be genuine. Don't do it because someone else is doing it and get away from people who pressure you to do so.

God Bless

I've never gone to a church that does that. However, I knew a girl who did. She said that they jump and praise and testify when the Holy Spirit moves them. The people talking to you were probably wondering why you haven't felt the Holy Spirit yet.

If this is not the church for you, try another one. If you are more reserved, find a church that is reserved too. I wouldn't feel comfortable in a church like that, and my friend wouldn't be comfortable in mine.

I've never been in a church that jumps, cries and runs. I've been in a church where they dance for the Lord. I have seen on occassion people with tears in their eyes but that was Holy Spirit touching them. Nothing out of the ordinary. If I were you I would pray about this and if you dont have peace about it, don't go back.

I'm sure it wasn't the whole church that asked you this. So I would just keep going there if I felt moved to do so. Just be true to yourself. Don't allow another persons opinions or judgment to run you out of a place you like. If you don't like it there then look for another place. You don't need a church to be close to God.

do not judge the church by the statement of one person if you do not feel like celeibrating and praising the lord in that way then do it in the way you feel, the toe and the thumb do not serve the same purpose but they are both a member of the same body when to people dance together is it for show or do they just enjoy dancing with each other let your praise's come from your heart

Go to another church you never have to put on a display such as that. Pray about where to go. A church should be to draw attention to Christ not the followers. Don't get discouraged, there are a lot of good churches out there.
