You can give your cats small amounts. Actually a small amount of oil may help reduce hair balls, by flushing them out.

There is no harm in it at all. You can actually give your cat a small amount everyday. It will help to lubricate to stomach and prevent to dreaded hacking up of hairballs. Cats also like vaseline. Put a little on your finger and they will lick it right off. Also very good for the hairballs.

Just make sure its small amounts, and not too often. The best way to give your cats other food that isnt cat food, is to give them like treats. Just ever so often.

Like whenever I decide to make tuna salad, I let my kitty have the tuna juice...so this is maybe once a month or so.

i found this website, it said olive oil is used to make cat food, this website is for homemade catfood, i would think oil would give it a shiny coat. i give my cats an egg mixed in with a quarter of a can of catfood, handful of dry food and for a treat some moist nibblets or sub for a little bit of milk. i want to get them nice and fat for winter and egg makes a shiny smooth coat. goodluck
