I often see in here, in the media and on the street those of faith looking down or judging those who are perhaps a little different, or don't jive with the image of what a christian should be. Shouldn't a christian be opening thier hearts to everybody?

A true Christian love others as God loves him. If he does not love his fellow men he cannot be loving and pleasing God. So there may be some self-pleasing rather than God-pleasing Christians out there. Or they claimed to be Christians but are not. So it is hard to generalise.

Sure, Christians open their hearts to everyone... but as in any faith or non faith you have rude, non understanding, insensititve people.. and yes even some Christians are like that...
That said...
I think a lot of athiests or non believers think that Christians are judgemental when they say things like you should read the bible... when in fact they aren't..
We as Christians are commanded to spread the word of God to the lost and sometimes the lost get offended easily..
or at least that is what I have seen on this board

A christian should be accepting, loving and forgiving- and should in God's agape love be reaching out to a dying world.
a christian should live peaceably with all men, while at the same time defending the gospel and being ready at all times to give an answer and a reason for the hope that lies within us.

No, the Bible is clear that some things are an abomination to God. Homosexuality, women wearing men's clothes, men wearing women's clothes are some of the things the Bible says are an abomination. Some religions these days will tell you that there are no big sins or little sins with God and that all sin is the same in God's eyes. However, that is not Biblical accurate as the Bible tells us that some things are an abomination to God. I don't know about you but I don't want to be an abomination to God. The Bible also makes it clear that we are to separate ourselves from evil people and not have anything to do with them. There is a difference between sin and evil. We are supposed to befriend the sinners of the world but stay clear of the evil people. Evil is sin that is used to hurt some one else. For instance, gossip and spreading lies about some one is not only sin but is also evil because it is done with the intention of hurting another person. If a person is homosexual he/she is an abomination to God and is also evil since it is not possible to participate in homosexuality without involving another person in the sinful act.

You aren't really opening your eyes. I always see Christians who give freely of themselves to those in need. I see them accepting others and helping people. I have many friends who are of different faiths. I see priests who are just as comfortable talking to a Buddist as they are a fellow priest. I see these things all the time, but the media would rather show the worst in humans then the best.

I have often had the same questions...the close minded behavior of "so called Christians" still seem to amazed me sometimes...yes to me true Christians are supposed to accept you as you are with out judgment and ridicule . Judge not ,let ye be judged.

This goes all around the religious circle. There are fakes in every and all religions, not just Christianity. At least Christians don't kill for their faith anymore as many Muslims do.
Merry Christmas!!!

I couldn't agree more. Jesus never spent His days arguing with people who didn't believe as He did. He simply lived His life and people were naturally drawn to Him. They will know we are Christians by our LOVE.

yes we must accept the person no matter what their state in life but we cannot and should not always accept what they say or do, if it is contrary to the Christian ethic.
