I want to buy an electronic toothbrush for a friend of mine for Christmas. There are so many different kinds to choose from and I don't want to get something cheap. Which one should I buy for a person who obsesses about his teeth?
Thanks.

The sonicare is THE BEST! I have been a Dental Hygienist for 23 years. For the first time, my patients have been able to fool me by telling me they are flossing when they are not! They say they only thing they did different was they began using the sonicare I recomended daily. My Dental journals have proven in study after study for the last five years that it is far superior to any other because it actually the only one that is truly "ultrasonic". I don't really put much into that as I do into what I see everyday at work. My job is SO much easier now! Make your hygienist day...buy a sonicare and use it daily!

Sonicare Elite is my top choice. There are many different model designations, but the "motors" are all pretty much the same. The kits are different because they pack different accessories. Some have two brush heads and some have four. Some have a travel bag and some have a wall-mount charger instead of a counter top charger.

Just read the label carefully and buy what you need. Bear in mind that you will have to replace the brush heads about every six months, so see if it is cheaper to buy a few extra brush heads in one of the kits.

Otherwise, buy a Sonicare, read and follow the directions. The directions are very clear and easy to understand.

Sonicare is especially recommended for someone with braces, by the way.

The dental office I work in recommends and sells Sonicare. There are a variety of models available and the replacement heads are interchangable with all the newer models. As stated before, they are rather expensive usually around $100 or more (probably more). You may be able to find them a little less expensive at some place like Costco. The key to using an electric toothbrush is to let it do the work and you need to not rush...use it at least 2 minutes. The nice thing about the Sonicare, is that it has a "quad timer" meaning that after 30 seconds, it will beep and the bristles will pause briefly to let you know it's time to change to another area.

get the oral-B one, get one of the more expensive ones with the different attachments (I think I spent around $100). ever since I've used the oral B electric toothbrush, the dentist said that I've been taking excellent care of my teeth, very little plaque

I adore my Sonicare elite e5300. I haven't had it a month yet but I can tell a real difference in my teeth. It isn't cheap though, around 100 bucks, but well worth it. I recommend this one.

Any Oral-B is good, but make sure that there are replacement heads where you buy it, so that he can get them later.

I'VE USED MY SONICARE ELITE FOR YEARS AFTER I USED ORAL-B AND SEVERAL OTHER TYPES. ONCE YOU START USING ONE YOU WILL WONDER HOW YOU GOT BY W/O ONE.
