Go to the Humberside airport website http://www.humbersideairport.com/cms/1/home.html to see which airlines fly in and out of that airport. Once you know the airlines, go to their websites to see if they fly direct from Queensland to Humberside. If there aren't any, you'll have to fly to another UK airport from Queensland and catch a connecting flight to Humberside.

there ae lots of options
no idea where your international gateways are in Oz.. thats up to you

getting to Europe though could involve various options
flying into the UK could be Heathrow or Gatwick (london Airports) or Manchester) if Manchester then you could get to Humberside by train or bus or taxi or car hire (its about 70..80 miles away). If you are meeting realtives they may even be tempted to pick you up... there are also smaller regional airports at Liverpool (100miles), Leeds/Bradford [Yeadon] (50 miles), I think there are a few other options on the east coast but Im not absolutely certain.

Alterantively you could fly to another non UK airport eg Amsterdam / Schipol or one of the German or French airports

Id suggest you do a search on flights to Humberside check out the operators flying there (you may be lucky and find one of the cheap airliens like (sl)EasyJet or Ryanair go there)

having worked that out then work out where they go and see if they link up with a major international gateway. Id do the same from where you are, again bear in mind you may be able to pick up the long haul flight from outside oz.

bear in mind you could go over Asia & Europe or over the Pacific/America & the Atlantic.

it may involve a few plane changes, but what the heck who wants to be stuck on a metal tube for 24 hours....... without a break

no they don't. You can only fly to Heathrow or Gatwick and will probably have to connect on the way. You fly out of Brisbane or Cairns.
