I hear so much on here about pastors being greedy & money hungry. Now that may be true for some, but here is an opportunity for you to look at a real pastor & judge.
I am 32, married, with 3 kids (2 boys, 1 girl)
We have a house that costs us $930 a month (incl. esgrow)
We have 2 cars, a 93 Mercury Villager (150,000miles on it) & a 95 Honda Accord (170,000 miles on it).
Our tv is 15+ years old & is a 32"
We have cable internet & one phone line.
We have no credit card debt
We get $90 a week to spend on groceries, $50 a week for gas/maintainance for our cars.
We have clock radios & 2 $30 boom boxes
Our computer cost us $400 new.

We could be making more money. I was making much more when I worked in a coorporation.

Have fun.

Oh, and we give $100 a week to both our church, and to others in need.
Last, we are very happy...we have definately been blessed!

Our church size is large & they pay us definately enough.

Darwin-people aren't forced to give in our church, nor is it necessary for salvation. I & most give because we want to. To spread God's message (haha)!

Where do you want us to send the money? lol

Aside from the "esgrow" (whatever that is) you sound like a couple of post grad students who started a family to soon.

Ditch the TV set before it destroys your kids and costs you untold sorrow and money. Pray for a better income from preaching the true gospel message before your transportation falls apart. Remember that you are in pretty good shape compared to the rest of the world.

An old PK

ps. I benefited from the austerity with one exception. I never got over having to wear hand-me-down clothing.

frankly, maximum pastors do not make very a lot money additionally they take an negative lot of criticism and a minimum of one I knew had a frightened breakdown from burnout. The helping professions are notorious for top burnout and occasional pay i does not evaluate my pastor grasping typically they make so little that their different halves artwork to at least one way or the different strengthen a more advantageous suited retirement or get respectable clinical advantages some pastors ought to each and every so often be grasping yet i does not say a lot of those I knew of include. interior the note faith churches , which i do not advise, being worthwhile is one way or the different correct to wish with God and faith and plausible confuses prospering interior the eyes of God with prospering in an American cultural experience... and probably more advantageous confusion at play than greed

Why invite people to judge you, that is crazy, you being a minister should know there is only one who sit in judgment and that is the creator, being a pastor doesn't mean you have to be broke, you have to teach people how to be prosperous in every way,and the best way to teach is by example.Material wealth has it purpose,as long as you attain it properly,in other words, don't rip off the church.peace and mat the creator bless you!!

Thanks, bro. In our association of churches, there are only a few large churches. Most of the pastors get by on pretty low salaries, because its all their churches can afford to pay them.
Several are bi-vocational, working at a job, or small business, and leading a church, too. God watches out for us, though.
