My faith hasbeen tested tonight and for a while I was going to give up but I know loving God and believing him will carry me through
This prayer helped me
Prayer for Faith
Lord, I believe:
I wish to believe in Thee.
Lord, let my faith be full and unreserved,
and let it penetrate my thought,
my way of judging Divine things and human things.
Lord, let my faith be joyful
and give peace and gladness to my spirit,
and dispose it for prayer with God
and conversation with men,
so that the inner bliss of its fortunate possession
may shine forth in sacred and secular conversation.
Lord, let my faith be humble and not presume
to be based on the experience of my thought and of my
feeling;
but let it surrender to the testimony of the Holy Spirit,
and not have any better guarantee than in docility to
Tradition
and to the authority of the magisterium of the Holy Church.
Amen.
Have you been tested?

Yes. My faith was tested two summers ago when my wife and kids were out of town for what seemed like 2 months during the summer. My wife was taking care of her father and aunt who were both sick and I was missing my family and feeling neglected. I took some quiet time and did some reading and realized I was being selfish. - - Funny thing was, I started reading some Christian books my wife had on "how to be a good wife" cause my intent was to pick things out of there that she wasn't doing and throw it in her face to show her that she was being a bad wife. What I realized was that all of those things could quickly be turned around on me and that I wasn't being a very understanding or compassionate husband either. So I resolved to just work harder at things and love her even more. And you know what...that seemed to make her want to be with me even more too and pretty soon things had gotten back to normal and the rough times had subsided.

When my mother was dying around Christmas time my children asked me if Grammy would be here for Christmas this was 17 years ago. I told them that the good Lord wouldn't take her at this time.
I was robbed two days before Christmas. On Christmas day the present under the tree were bare I cry-ed on Christmas day. through my tears I remembered my prayers please God let my mother live at least till Christmas. I felt relieved I had nothing but my prayers were answered.
My mother died two weeks after mothers day that year. I was by her side and gave her soul to the lord. I said in prayer Lord now I know how hard it was to give up your only son because now to you I commend her soul she died quietly shortly after that. My faith has been strong sometimes I question the bible but, I know there is a God
from sandi your prayer was beautiful

hmmm...
except for that part, i believe your prayer is a good one. to remain docile in the face of "tradition" is at best foolhardy; at worst, destructive. And there is only one Holy Church - that is the Church of Jesus Christ, the body of Christ, the universal and invisible fellowship of all believers as declared in scripture..
god bless
oh - yes, i have been tested - time and time again

That's a strange question. Faith is not something tested, it is a default. If you really want something to be true (or fear it true), but don't have any real evidence, you might still believe it. That's faith. It is what you have as the basis of your belief, when there's no real reason to believe it.
Theories are tested against evidence. A "test" of faith is just a measure of your emotional need to believe it.

Whether a person realize it or not,we all get tested.Every time you are faced with making a decision based on right verses wrong, you are experiencing a test, the true believer passes the test when they make a rational and logical decision which results in an increase.

while suffering with clinical depression i debated back and forth whether or not to commit suicide. my faith was tested because i have always heard that suicide is a mortal sin and would result in my going to hell. a times, i didn't care. i just wanted the emotional pain to end. i absolutely couldn't pray to God because i was out of control angry with Him. what saved me was my religious foundation and upbringing. i also believed in a secular statement from my psychiatrist----"suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem."
in retrospect, i believe that all during my episode with depression, God remained with me and coaxed me along so that i didn't give into the temptation to end my life.

Paul writes that we are tested everyday and I truly believe that. Not every test is by God. Satan will test us as well, but each time we are tested, if we seek the Lord, he will guide us through the most troubling times.

Still stuck in the middle of my worst test! The second test like this in my life, much harder than the first one. (Not the preacherman fault, if anyone read my other answers. It's my own personal problems...)

Yes, many times. If one's faith isn't tested, one won't know how much they need God in their lives.

Oh yes, I've been through some valleys. I've had the enemy on my shoulder. I've learned how to rebuke him and ask God to put me where I need to be. It's in the wilderness we mature, it's through our trials we learn patience.
God Bless!
