Well if I'm at McDonald's and I had some extra money then I might get them something off the dollar menu or something. Then I would let my pastor know and we would try to help them find somewhere to stay and something to eat. My church has a food pantry for needy families all the food in there is given to needy families.

If a person comes to me and ask me for money I wouldn't give them that. I would give them info on how to acquire money, unless this is someone who needs money to get home or something like that. Giving money to someone just enables them to keep doing what they are doing. If someone needs a place to stay I would try to get a church or community leader involved with them or get them a motel room, if I can't get them that then at last resort I would bring them home. The Lord said that what you do for the least of my brothers that you do unto Me.

I have given poor some money, as the Lord leads. But I think it is better to take them somewhere and buy them food. That way you know they are getting what is needed. For shelter, There are places for them to go to. If interested, e mail me to qualify this.

We are told not to give money to panhandlers. I give money to my Church and they distribute it where it is best needed.

As to the 2nd part of your question, I would try to help them find a place.

offer them a ride to a local shelter , make sure they got a meal. I would also tell them about our church ministry to help with clothes, food boxes, and the well being of people in our community.
