Mary and joseph and many others were required to go to Bethlehem to get registered. They had no way of getting a message ahead to reserve a room and possibly had no family left in Bethlehem. By the time they got there, no comfortable place was left for them to stay. So they had to go to the stable.

Just like today there was no clean room for a Kingly Priest to dwell in. Do you know what is lurking in Motel rooms? Urine, fecus, seman, STDs and so forth. Do you really believe that no one would give up their room in Bethlehem for a child to be born in? Even today with the lack of Morals today, being called an evil and adultres generation, you still can find people in every city that will proved shelter to a mother in labor. All rooms were defiled, therefore; the only clean place that they could find was a barn.

Isayah 24:1-6—
1 Before Yahweh's very eyes, the earth is made empty and it is made waste; the face of it is perverted and its inhabitants scattered abroad;
2 And it will be: as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with his owner; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with him who takes usury, so with him who gives usury to him:
3 The land will be utterly emptied and utterly plundered, for it has come to pass that this judgment has been pronounced.
4 The earth mourns and fades away, the world mourns and fades away, and the haughty people of the earth languish.
5 THE EARTH ALSO IS DEFILED because of the inhabitants of it, because they have TRANGRESSED THE LAWS, CHANGED THE ORDINANCE , AND BROKEN THE EVERLASTING COVENANT.
6 Because of this, the curse has devoured the earth, and they who dwell therein are desolate; therefore, the inhabitants of the earth are burned, and few men left.

You would have thought God and his Amex would have done the trick.

' And Lo! He sounded from above, "Does thou accept Amex and does that alloweth me a room upgrade?" '

The stable didn't even have en-suite and I bet they weren't offered a full English breakfast in the morning.

I've read in the missing gospels that Joseph wrote a strongly worded letter of complaint to the manager.

Oh well, that's Travelodge's for you.

There was no room at the inn.

You have to realize that there weren't any reservations in those days. It was a matter of who got there first. And because of the census, they were inundated with people.

The wise men didn't get there in time with money to build the motels or the camel drivers to run them.

Anyway, the inn was full; so what else is new?
