Jesus, according to the Bible, was from the line of David, and Mary's heritage was Jewish. The pictures illustrating Jesus are probably not even close to what he actually looked like. ( having done a Bible Study on this, a long time ago ) He would have had a tan or olive tone skin, being Jewish and working outside as a carpenter. His hair was not long, as pictured, but according to the style worn in those days, which was short to medium length.
He had a strong body, as he did physical work. He was not dark with kinky hair, as some would believe, as he probably had the features of the Jewish people.
Hope this helps...you can look up his heritage, in Genesis in the Bible, and see that God was sending the Savior, Christ, thru the nationality of Jewish people.

I have seen pictorial representations of Jesus as every race known to man.
Picture a six-foot Semite with deeply tanned skin, dark brown eyes and rather long, dark brown hair. He's muscular but not bulky, slender but not thin with good muscle tone especially in arms (from all that carpentry as a young man) and legs (from all that walking during His ministry).
Look at a good negative of the face on the Shroud of Turin. The most unbiased scientific surveys now agree that this is the image of a Jew who was crucified and during the first century in Judea too (see pallenology and paleotextilography reports on the Shroud itself).

The earliest known picture that is supposed to display Jesus, was drawn around 200 AD, and pictured him as a white skinned man with short black hair, a short black beard and brown eyes.
Many of the people from that area had come from Greece, several hundred years before, and yes, many of them were blue or green eyed, and there were a number who had brown, blonde and red hair, as the early Greeks ran from blonde to brown hair.
You have to remember that before the 1700's, the colour of a person's skin didn't mean anything to anyone, and it didn't matter to anyone what their neighbour looked like. The intermarrying that took place for several thousand years after the Greeks, first invaded, changed the general colour of the skin and the hair and eye types.
I do understand what you mean, as I have seen in my travels Jesus portrayed as a Blonde haired, blue eyed man with a lovely blonde beard. People who claim he has never been portrayed as such have obviously never been to very many art museums, have never been to very many different churches and have never read very many illustrated Bibles. Sad really. No one know exactly what he looked like, as no one ever described his appearance accurately.

Jesus was of Hebrew descent, not Jewish. The Hebrews had fairer skin and lighter colored hair than do the Jews. It is suggested in several different sources that Jesus had light red hair and fair skin. He is said to have been over six foot tall and had a large framed body. Not the wimpy looking man he is so often portrayed as. These facts have nothing to do with Europeans trying to make him look European.

Jesus was probably an olive-skinned man with brown eyes and being a Nazarene Jew he likely had hair that was uncut. He likely was slender because he ate modestly and did not overeat. It is said that his undergarments were woven with no seems.
The Bible says that he was beaten so bad before being placed on the cross that he was so terribly disfigured more than any other man. Imagine the damage done to his face. He had a crown of thorns on his head and was pierced along the side of his body with a lance.

well he wasn't a blue-eye european... he was middle eastern, dark skinned, dark hair, dark eyes... They say that Jesus wasn't really attractive either... most of the time you see Jesus as a white person because they make him look like the painter, so if the painter is black, more than likely they would paint Jesus black. Its just like the last supper, many painters have painted the scene, and they paint themselves in it...

I personally believe that Jesus looked like an average Jewish man. So, He probably had dark skin and brown eyes. Only the people of His time know. And, God knows, of course. Peace.

there is a tendency for people to construct Jesus to suit their own nationality and really there is no harm in this as Jesus is for all peoples, but as He was born into the Jewish faith He would have been semitic in appearance, however as the modern day Jew is not facially like his early counterpart because of inter-breeding over the last 2,000yrs we con only approximate what Jesus really looked like.
