no way, a major European war would definately be bad for Britain. firstly unlike the last two wars Britain no longer has an empire to trade with, and with most of our revenue coming from a war torn Europe things would get pretty bad pretty quickly...petrol crisis, lack of fuel, rationing etc etc.

second the royal Navy isn't the 600 ship behmoth of yesteryear and there would be no way of securing trans atlantic trade routes with the US or ensuring that British trade would be uneffective.

Thirdly and probably most importantly is the the UK is closely tied to the Contient by a series of treaties and agreements, for example any large scale war would likely involve France and we are still obligated to support France through the entente cordial. The UK can't rely on extra manpower and support from traditional sources like Australlia and Canada, and it's most probable that if the war eveolved into a war of attrition, we would eventually face economic and military collapse just like the Germans in 1918

so to answer your question a war would be diasterous for the UK ( although it will be good for jobs as people like you and me would be in the army somewhere dieing)

Theoretically yes as in a war you need home made equipment and after you would be rebuilding all the things you have smashed up, but you would need to lose so the other party puts all the money into the new project, like Britain did for Germany, the last time, and at the present moment I would think the most likely place for a war to start would be Britain because you are over crowding your resources with people from other countries

There would be no immediate effect if the only people we had to pick on were the former Eastern block countries. Their weoponry is not up to it and we could do enough damage to bring them to the table without commiting all of our troops.

However, in order to have an impact on employment you would need to be involved in a Total War, over a long period, like WWII. Then you would have an impact. Small scale wars would only cause minor blips to the economy, if that.

No. Simply because all European countries apart from the UK would close their borders. Thereby creating an influx of immigrants into the UK. Not that we'd notice since there are so many already.

After the last one we had to get people to move here from India and the Caribbean to fill the jobs left vacant by the deaths of millions of people.

No. Nobody hires people during a war.

And also, if you remember what happened just after 9/11 and the war in Iraq, loads and loads of companies blamed that for why they were doing badly (even though it wasn't related) and made loads of people redundant.

It may be good for jobs but disastrous for the economy (worldwide, not just in the UK)
