the truth is always the best way. confess to screwing things up, and accept full responsibility. your dad will be more understanding if he can see that u are serious about not making the same mistake again. so have a look at your finances, work out just how far in debt u are, and then write down ways on how u can budget your spending, and also try finding a way of supporting yourself financially.... get a saturday job, or a part time job where u can work a couple of hours on an evening. supermarkets are good places to look for work, and a lot of them open out of hours now. if u can show him that u are better organised, and that u have seriously thought about all of this, he'll probably calm down a bit. good luck.

Just tell the truth! And seriously think about getting a part time job, you're old enough to make money for any extras you need. Remember, your Dad is still a young Guy inside but with a lot of years experience and maturity. Don't say anything you don't mean, 'cause he'll know if it's BS. Good luck.

Tell Dad you had to buy so many books to help with your studying in the first year. Say you'll find a Saturday job to make up for the money you had to spend. Also, say to him that a group of friends have got together and will buy one book each, so you can share them instead of buying all of them on your own. As a student, you really really have to be careful with what you spent. I lived on five pounds a week for four years.

You will make matters worse if you do not just tell your parents the truth about everything. Honesty will prevail in the long run.
You are not the first nor the last student to go over your limit so take a deep breath and just be honest to your parents and tell the truth. I wish you luck and hope it all goes well for you.

Explain to your Dad just as you have here. Parents can accept you screwing up if you are mature enough to admit you did. It was your own fault. Accept that, keep telling your Dad you are sorry and have learned a lesson. Make an agreement with your parents as to future guidelines.

Don´t worry, we all make mistakes , Just tell him the truth ,don´t look for excuses, Also tell him you will pay him back every penny you ,should´t have spent from his money, but only tell him that if you mean it,I´m sure your dad was young once,it will all come out in the wash.

Have you thought about getting a job as well as being a student to show your dad you can get back on your feet and see that your trying to get yourself some money,to forward your education and talk to your father about it and how foolish you've been.

Why do you have to convince your dad of anything? I really don't understand why you have to talk to your dad about YOUR finances. Is he still supporting you financially? I say grow up, get a job and take care of yourself.

I would explain just that, it was my first year, I went overboard, I feel bad, I'm sorry and it wont happen again because I'm going to budget, I'm going to plan, I'm going to be very careful in my spending.

If that dont work, get a job and prove you can pay for your own extras and you arent just trying to milk him for the money....let him pay the have to's and you pay for the extras you want that arent a college neccessity.

the only thing you can do is find a job that suits you and bail yourself out....once you have flown the nest you have to prove to your parents that you can stand on your own two feet and not rely on then all the time....so find a side job and show them that your doing fine, this will save the hassle of another fight with your dad
