First I don't understand how stoning would be a positive thing. It is an act of violence. Thou shalt not kill. Any act of violence goes against the truth of God. The pharisees accused Jesus of being from the devil because he cast out demons. Jesus responded by saying, if I am from the devil then I would not cast out a devil because "a house divided could not stand" , that phrase from Jesus is true on many levels. Obviously Jesus was from God, and through the power of God devils were cast out. Casting out a devil through prayer and intercession to God is by the power of God, from which believers in God would intercede for God's divine help. Stoning a person to death is killing a human being which is a sin. It is not against the flesh we war but the powers and principalities of this world which a stone cannot kill, only intercessory prayer and the power of God can cast out demons. The word of God is above ALL things, even the devil, and there are laws the devil must even obey. Stones kill a person but not the devil. The devil is the father of all lies and is very deceptive. If he shows himself in a person and can get someone to kill a person then the devil wins. We as believers in God must trust in God. What people refer to as exorcism is more of a ritual. One of the biggest lies the devil tries to convince us of is that exorcism is a joke, or that the devil doesn't really exist. God didn't create any bad people, people become bad when they let the devil rule their life and they turn away from God. They then are divided in their heart and spirit and this is when people will surely fall.
That was a good question, but I think if you think about it on different levels and what Jesus was saying, it will make more sense to you as you read that the spirit can be divided, in that we all come from God, yet there are times when we become divided in our hearts and spirit through sin where the result is we fall from God's love. But stoning is violence, and the devil is very deceptive and likes to create confusion. "A house' meaning the world, a nation, a family or a person, or your spirit.
