Cats ALWAYS choose thier preffered companions, doesnt matter if you have 4 cats and 4 people in the same house all the cats may pick only one or 2 people to hang around its just they way they are!! Cats are picky about who they choose as the object of thier affection, you should feel honoured that the cat chose you as its best friend.

i have a cat that HAS TO HAVE ATTENTION or she'll get to you or on you to get the attention. i think cats can sense people personalities and attitudes. if your cool then the cat wil run to you, and if you have a bad attitude it could sense it and be threatened. maybe your friend did something to it by accident and the cat remembers and stays away. cats are like humans, they have picky personalities too and maybe theres a cat who doesn't like its owner but loves everyone else!! like kids:)!! maybe your friend should give it treats by hand and work on getting it to come to him. and plus maybe your comfortable!! goodluck!!!

Kitty prefers your lap because it's roomier, or comfier, or warmer..... And kitty prefers you because you are nice to her and scratch her ears & rub her tummy.
