Not exactly. I believe in "Forgive and Learn."
I would not always want to make the same choices that got me into some situations that I've been in.
I have forgiven those who have hurt me. But I will not forget all. That helps me to be who I am. It helps me be able to help others that have also been hurt.

Yes. When I unconditionally forgive, I know that I too will be unconditionally forgiven of the things I've done wrong as well. And when I forget, all things are good once again between me and those that have hurt me.
That, however, does not mean that I have not learned from it. If a person asks for money from me, and then steals some on top of that, I forgive, I forget, and if that person needs money again, I personally buy whatever it is they need, and give it to them.
(note: and with the horrible memory I have, forgetting comes very easily, often times I forget before I have a chance to forgive.)

I do. However easier said than done. Some things can be forgiven and forgotten while others can't. People always say its easier to forgive than to forget. I guess depending on the issue at hand and a person's effort to forgive and forget it can be either an easy task or a hard one. For everyone its different though.

No, and nobody ever should. It's okay to forgive, but when we forget, we often find ourselves in the same situation later down the road. Remembering is our way of taking a little lesson away from a bad experience. And since we are always learning or needing those lessons, it's probably best we NEVER forget.

I believe that forgive and forget are connected at the hip. For one to forgive, he has to let go, as far as the urge to avenge the wrong done to him. The forgetting can only come from the continual action of letting go, moving on, and progressing to the point where nothing of the ghost from the past stands between what is present and what is future. Do I believe in this phenomena?

Forgiving isn't always easy, but yes, we should forgive if it's at all possible. As for forget, no way, learn from the experience and remember so you're not blindsided a second time. Just put the "forget" into perspective so that you can learn from it and understand why whatever happened did.

no. How are you gonna learn from your mistakes if you don't even remember them? I've been trying to forgive and forget for about 4 yrs now to the tune of around a fifth a day. It hasn't worked well yet.
actually the idea of forgive and forget is to release you from the burden of reliving the wrong someone else did to you. And although that is reasonable, the idea of intentionally putting yourself in position to be hurt again isn't. So while you may not remember the debt they owe you, you don't want to forget that they hurt you last time... and history does indeed repeat itself.

Forgive, yes; forget, no. You can't "forget." Besides who would want to. This is how you judge a person's character. Ex.: If I loan money to a friend and that friend refuses to pay me back for whatever reason; I may forgive, but I will remember not to loan money to them again.
