There are over 400,000 Catholic Priests in the world and 4% were charged with sexual abuse but 78% of families were charged with the same thing, mothers and fathers are in the higher bracket. Nobody mentions families as being paedophiles. Shouldn't we be attacking families to stop this as children are been abused by familiy members more than anyone else?

those small number of Priests who have commited these vile acts are in no way representative of the whole Catholic Priesthood, and lest we forget good and honest Priests have suffered greatly by the actions of a few sinful men, but the devil loves nothing better than to attack and cause mayhem in the Catholic church, and I truly believe that when these men are put out of the church it will come back that much stronger for the persecutions.

I'm not upset about calling Catholics pedophiles, I'm upset that so many ARE pedophiles. We have a right to hold the clergy to a high standard because they preach these standards. Certainly not all Catholic priests are pedophiles but even a small percentage adds up to thousands. Would you entrust a child to an organization that covered for and protected thousands of known sex predators? The Catholic church has abused its trust and now has no credibility.

Look. Sexual energy is the most power full or strong energy which cannot be controlled for a long time. Lots of Catholic Priests are pedophiles (that is very wrong-hurting innocent children) or they have lovers and children secretly (which personally I don't mind or blame. I think it is good for them). Many Catholic Priests were not discovered yet for their crime.
Of course this happens in the family as well. And people attack those people as well.

Calling all Catholics pedophiles because a few priests have that sickness is like calling all Fundamentalists morons because some of them have very little education.
Or all Muslims terrorists because some of them use Islam as a mask to hide their homicidal mania behind.
Generalizations are fraught with such solecisms. Please be careful how you use them. Remember, it only takes one black swan to conclusively prove that not all swans are white.

It just makes me sad.
Was it 4%? I thought it was less than that. That means that roughly 16,000 have been accused of it. That seems like too high a number. It's probably considerably less than that.
But it's a known fact that society expects others to mess up...so that when a Christian does it, it's sensationalized and made to sound as though ALL of them do it.
