I want to learn how to speak some french because we are going there for vacation this summer and i think i should get a start on it so that i will understand more of what people are saying to me........do u know of any book, movies, cassets ect. that are actually going to help me understand??!!??

You can get software for several languages at any computer retail store. It may be easier to use for you because you will be able to hear the language being spoken. I find many people have a problem picking up a new laguage out of a book alone, even with phonetic spellings. Also try the following site, they have several courses.

I think the best way to learn any language is by watching movies, so just go to the nearest cinema and watch whatever French movie in on. Make sure there are subtitles though.

Go to the Barnes and Noble near you. My mom once went there and got me a little flip book with cd and it has pictures, alphbet,drinks,phrases,food,number,etc. It is really helpful
