This is a difficult question to answer as it will depend on how the two of you relate to each other, and the dynamics of your relationship. You have to both want to do it enough to be willing to risk the loss of friendship. It is possible that you could remain friends if it didnt work out, but there is a high chance this wouldnt happen.

If he has cheated on ex's and you think he is likely to do it again (cos it is part of his personality) then it seems likely that you shouldnt trust him unless you feel you have a bond closer than he had with previous girls.

I have just got together with a guy I've been friends with for years. Both of us have had dodgy pasts but we can't change that, we just have to trust each other. I think with the right person you just know when its right.

get him/her pissed, flirt like hell, and then seduce them into bed. take it from there. if it all goes pear shaped and you loose your friendship over it, then it wasnt a worth while friendship in the 1st place!!! and have you considered the fact that you are only mates with this person - because you fancy them?
