I was born in England, but both parents are Afghan. They came here one year before the war broke out in '79 to do their masters degree, but couldn't return as planned for obvious reasons. I don't wear a viel, but am muslim. I have never been to Afghanistan. I am a university student, am not on benefits and pretty much go about my day like any other english person..So should I be deported?

Boy jam arch- I am basically trying to get the general viewpoint of the british public concerning their views on immigration. I have noticed on this site a few comments about the problem with 'immigrants', to the extent that some even think all muslims should leave. I wanted to know what exactly consitutes this kind of 'immigrant' that certain people disapprove of. However I am very pleased with the responses and I think this proves that the majority of british people know what they're taking about! bar a couple who still think i'm illegal!

I support the BNP but no you should not be deported. You were born here and are making a contribution to society. Hopefully when you finish your studies, you will find a good job and pay your taxes like every other British Citizen. I only wish there were more like you.

No, you should not be deported. Whatever the religion you have, wherever your parents come from, whether you wear a veil or not and all that is not relevant. You have the full right to stay in UK legally, and if anyone say some nonsense like you should be deported because of your religion, where your parents are from, or simply because you are not British origin is just under educated.
You have the right to have any religion, and you and your parents origin is something you guys are born with, and for that you should not be judged or discriminated against at all. It's a common sense.

You have every right to stay here.
You are a useful member of society.

There are many many terrorists who have to be deported, however.

Hello,

In my personal opinion I think you should have freedom of choice, meaning that if you wan to make a life hear in the UK and stay here and work here, then that should be your right. (NOT to be forceably removed to a country you didnt grow up in).

Perhaps, you would like to visit Afghanistan before you can really make up your own mind. Its a VERY hard choice to make, you have to decide based on where you feel your heart is most drawn i.e. is that the UK or is it that Afghanistan?

**Do you see your identity as a person as being British or English first and foremost or would you say your identity is Afghani & muslim first and only english british secondly?

**No! I wouldnt like to see you deported but I would like you to have the opportunity to freely decide where you wish to be.

Best Regards to you my friend, go well, peace be with you.

Are you being threatened with deportation? If not, why the question? If you are then get in touch with the Refugee Council, they will help you find a specialist lawyer.
Contrary to what some answerers have said, being born in the UK no longer automatically results in British citizenship.
Maybe you should think about applying for a British passport.

No,

But I think the debate at the moment is " if children of immigrant families fall fowl of the law, should the children be deported to their parents homeland on completion of their sentence,

I believe this is the case in the U.S.

No, you shouldn't be deported. You are as British as I am.

Your parents deserve their British citizenship too.

You may fall under a sanctuary umbrella, but you are defintely an illegal. Deportation? No.

My question to you is: if you have enough resources and education to go to a university, then why haven't you applied for: A) a visa (as a UK National) or B) Naturalization?

If you're illegal through no wrongdoing on your part, then you should be making moves to do it the right way and not wait for government legislation to fix the problem.
