I always find my baseball bat an effective way of dealing with conflict. It makes it both easier and harder to resolve.

When there is a conflict, simply resolve it to the satisfaction of those who may see that it exists in your case or believe it to be possible. Devoid yourself of the problem by withdrawing from whatever may be the conflict.Excuse yourself from a meeting say if the topic is something your personally involved in or perceived to have an involvement.
You must make yourself look "clean" in all aspects of the issue.

In healthcare, federal & state government is concerned about this and the effect it could have on healthcare fraud & abuse. Most healthcare facilities have compliance programs that delianate their conflict of interest policy - what's allowed & what isn't. You might also check with the HealthCare Compliance Association (just serach for it) and see if their library has an documents that may help you

take the high road. have some sort of ethics or motivation to be fair, other than self interest. think about what is good for your country or school etc and not just each side.
