This is one of mine and especially my wife's favorite songs and yes, it does evoke emotions I think more that other similar type songs. This man is a terrific guitar player and song writer and had a bad upbringing with the early departure of his father. One of the greatest musicians of our times.

It's a sad song and Eric Clapton said he'll never sing it again in concert because he had to let go of the grieving process. His little boy, by the way, didn't fall off a balcony. He leaned on a screen that wasn't properly secured and fell out a window. The people accusing Clapton of writing that song for profit have got to be kidding.

That is one of the two songs I like that is sung by Eric Clapton. And it was before I knew how that song came about.

I became a little more emotional when I first realised what the song was written for, but as time goes by, not any more. I just appreciate the beauty of the song.

Of course. The music itself has a sad way about it, not only the lyrics. I usually change the station when this song comes on.

Well, as much as I don't go all 'elmo'...if that is what you meant,..I guess we all laugh at things that others would never find funny.....I recently found it hilarious to see a gang member getting beat up on tv. ...now that was not only not funny, but it was against all my Christian beliefs, which I prayed on to forgive me for laughing at him...I guess for whatever reason, it was funny to me to see a bullying, nasty, murderous rapist getting beat up and helpless by the cops, when he had abused so many people...now most people wouldn't find that funny. I don't laugh at E.C.'s song..but I also wonder why a person writes a song like that after their son dies, and makes money off it, ..unless I am wrong about the timing.

One of my best friends lost her son shortly after this song came out. I always cry when I hear it -- and remember him.

Not really. I mean I feel sorry for his kid falling off a balcony and dying and all, but all of his music has sucked since then.
