I work for an oral surgeon, and when we hear that people have an abnormally bad taste in their mouth, we call them in right away. It is almost always a sign of an infection. It is no big deal if you get it treated right away, but it can become life threatening if you ignore it. And the person who said it was a dry socket probably drank some antifreeze as a child.

If you have a lot of pain you could have a dry socket which will need a dressing. However it is normal to have a bad taste. DO NOT use mouth wash as it is too acidic after an extraction. Rinse with warm salt water instead at least twice a day. The bad taste will gradually go. If you had an infected socket you would know about it as they are very painful!

You may be tasting stale blood and in which case you need to try a mouthwash made from dried sage. 1 tsp in a cup of water, allow to cool and then rinse your mouth out with it concentrating on where the cavity is.
Be sure to always brush your teeth as infection might set in otherwise.

Gently rinse with a mixture of Listerine and Hydrogen Peroxide. Keep your mouth really clean until you can get some antibiotics.

You may have a small infection... sugest to gargle carefully with salt water or antibacterial mouthwash and go back to your dentist... if you get severe pain with this you may have what they call dry socket...

I would get a check up to make sure that you don't have an infection.

of course it is not normal. it indicates that u have inflammation now. u probably weren't taking a good care of this wound in your mouth. u have to call to dentist and tell about it. u probably will get an emergency appointment and anthibiotics treatment. u have to hurry, before infection goes into your body

i had this myself, use mouthwash regularly , it will clear up. its just the same as a regular scab on your skin if it gets a mild infection. it will clear and heal.
