Everything goes good, and then it asks about my time, date, area code, etc. And It starts to install again, when it gets to 32 mins. it never moves after that, i have tried restarting about 4 times and the same thing. I tried another xp disk, samething. Above the green bar it says installing network.Clean install, brand new hard drive. Everything is pretty new. Atleast within the last year or two. I tried to pull the modem, no difference. I tried to change my bios to plug and play, no chang. I shift+f10 , taskmgr, and nothing is out of wack. System idle process is like from 95-98, and taskmgr is from 2-5, everything else sits at 0. Im at the end of my rope here guys. This thing has been one problem after another setting it up. And ive got this far, i can't stop now.

I even deleted hdd pations and created a new one about 4 times, gets to the same spot and stops.

PLEASE HELP

The hdd is fine, i did a slow format, not the quick. No problems. I have looked all over the net and found nothing. I have posted on several sites, and no one will respond. I had to adjust my cmos to get windows to boot, i changed my hdd to large and my cdrom to lhb, no other combo would boot. But that boots great, fast, etc. All the way up to "installing network". No there are now cables connected. The only thing in there is a modem, thats the only extra i have. I have two sticks of ram, but one is out cause i got error 7 so i pulled my 128 and left my 256 in. other than that no problems till this. And it just won't go. I apperciate the help so far though.

Since it is hanging on the "installing network", and you said you only have a modem... is there an onboard network card? If so, try disabling it in BIOS and see if that helps. If not, borrow one and put it into the PC. It may be hanging looking for a network card.

Best guesses I have....

After everything you've tried to do, it sounds like you could have a defective CD. It doesn't happen often, but can happen. Try this link and see if it contains some help. I wish you luck with this!

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
