I'll ask YOU a few things:
1) Did you get out and vote in the last election?
2) Do you work with an organization for a candidate who shares your views?
3) Other than ranting on Yahoo Answers, do you do ANYTHING to make others aware of what's going on?
Unless you can say yes to all three of these, you're as much a part of the problem as someone who simply doesn't care. Decisions are made by those who show up!

Have you not read anything in these forums.
Even if the threat is only perceived, they got angry.
As for the spying, have you been spied on? Have any of your
friends been spied on. Has anyone you know been spied on?
As for warrantless searches, haven't heard about any of those,
Have you.
On the question of warrantless electronic eavesdropping,
with cell phones you do not need a warrant. It's an ether
transmitted signal (radio). There's no law against it. According
to the FCC, the agency that regulates radio and TV, there is
no expectation of privacy with this type pf transmission.
That does for satellite transmissions as well.
So what's your point?
Thank you very much, while you're up!!!

There are plenty of people who feel like you do. Some people, the ones with an suv in the drive a cozy bed and plenty of food would like too have us believe life is peachy keen, meanwhile people are more concerned about what is going on halfway around the world than there own back yards. Yeah they are taking pictures of you everywhere, they are putiing opticle scanners in school. They want to make everyone stop smoking like they make everyone wear seatbelts. There is an old fable where the little boy crys wolf. when it is said and done and the wolf really eats the little boy no one in the town heres. Thats whats going to happen in america. People are not seeing the forest for the trees everything is done in the word of improving our lives. hmm isn't that what hitler did

we could see, NDAA, Enemy Expatriation Act, nationwide source protection government Order, ACTA, i could say no, liberals (a minimum of those in means) do no longer provide a damn approximately civil liberty anymore. Republicans are purely as undesirable. all of the recent liberty-killing charges have been the only element that the two aspects have agreed on these days. Libertarians are the only political faction that provide a damn approximately liberties anymore, regrettably the electorate of this united states of america save balloting in statists, which I have not got any thought why...

The govt has spread so much fear onto the American public that most are willing to give up freedoms to feel safer. The problem is that these freedoms were paid for with blood--taking them away should not come so easy and so cheap. I agree with you, we should be more aware of what our govt is doing in the name of "protecting" us. It doesn't make you anti American to ask the question, no matter what Limbaugh and his buddies might say.

Maybe your concern about domestic spying and warrentless searches is valid. I don't know enough about it. You may be right.
But I am more concerned with the indications of how many Americans are deluded about WHAT "civil liberties" even are. Take a look at these bozos (the asker and the best answer):

Stop crying about civil liberties and rights lost... because most of you extreme liberals would love to do away with the 2nd Amendment and take away our right to bear arms. Like the communists in the Democratic Republic of Illinois are trying..

Did you ever here that song with the refrain "You're so vain you think is song is about you...don't you..." I'm quite comfortable in the fact that the government isn't listening in on my conversations and if they were they'd be bored to tears. They are/were listening for things I want the Federal Government to protect me from. And even they were, if it comes down to the Feds listening to your BF telling you to F*off or catching a coded message for a terrorist attack against a U.S. target I'd throw out your so called "rights" out the window.

Ya. But the government has been taking away your civil rights for quite some time. How about the drug free workplace garbage.
You have to pee in a bottle to work at a minimum wage job? You are subject to random drug testing, at the whim of your employer?
some places you have to give hair samples?
What ever happened to the right of PRIVACY?
We didn't give up these rights to our government, we gave them up to our fellow citizens. We allow them to check our financial backgrounds in order to gain employment. We allow them to do background checks to see if we are criminals. We let them treat us like criminals, until we can prove we aren't.
We don't have as many rights and civil liberties as we would like to believe.

You are crying about a tempest in a teapot. I can only imagine the shrill cries of outrage if another attack happened. "Why didn't my government protect me???" You can NOT have it both ways. The world has a certain number of Aholes who want all western societies DEAD!!! They do NOT want to live in harmony with us no matter what the flower children in Washington want to believe. They want you, your parents and everyone you care about dead. And yet, the whiners keep doing their best to tie the hands of the only one doing something about it. Go figure....
