Yes. The hair on our heads serves to help keep body heat in, and keep our bodies functioning properly. The brain is by far the largest user of blood and nutrients in our body, so conserving heat to prevent a drop in body core temp is imperative.

Several purposes.

Unlike most of our body, we retained hair on some parts for protection from dirt, objects, etc.

This hair also serves to maintain body heat. Our brains are the largest users of energy, andd as such our head is the largest dissipator of heat. Having this layer of insulation preserves energy.

At some point in our evolution it became generally physically desirable to the opposite sex. This creates a self promoting physical attribute since the posession of any trait physically desirable to the opposite sex inreases the chance the posessor will reproduce and pass the trait onto their offspring.

Yes.

It retains heat in the cold, retains sweat in the heat for cooling, protects the scalp from the sun, wind and rain, protects the head somewhat from blows, helps attract a mate and protects the eyes, ears, nose and mouth from bugs.

I cannot think of anything except maybe keep our scalp and maybe the brain warm. Sometimes the hair helps in improving our looks, you use it to hide a huge forehead or make a very long face look shortish.
